Carla & Peter / Alison & Chris - Discussion/Appreciation/Fandom (2)
Quote:
Woo! Welcome back OceanAndARock, glad you had a good time and hop eyou manage to catch up on your sleep soon!
Oh gosh Will you be getting the mag? If so, I would really appreciate it if you could post what it says!Wow, this is super amazing! You're very talented at making these. Just a quick note, but the way Frank pins Carla up against the railings makes my stomach turn every time. Just the way her body goes so stiff as she struggles is just....omg heartbreaking. It's the little things like this which put Ali in a league of her own. |

Got all excited for a new thread but then realised I can't quote from the old one and cba copy and pasting posts to quote since I'm on my iPod again and it's just too much trouble.
Defiantly don't want Sally to get in the way of carchelle in the office, would totally ruin things and I hate Sally even more than normal when she has a bit of power as she gets all high and mighty, defiantly hoping carla turns her down. Don't like Leanne thinking she's got all these rights to Simon. I would never deny them a relationship but Peter is the boys dad so IMO he should have custody. Hopefully the custody battle will give us some good carter support scenes. Not sure if they'll be on tonight. I know they where taken out of the spoilers to stop the killer being given away but hopefully well atleast get a couple of scenes even if nohing significant happens with them. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QahfK...1&feature=plcpSo no Carla in tonight's episodes ![]() I'm torn. I'm pleased Ali is obviously getting a well deserved break, but in a selfish way I really missed her on my screen We've been treated to so much Carla lately that it feels like the end of the world (okay, maybe a small exaggeration...) when she isn't in two consecutive episodes. And I can't believe the murderer reveal was only a week ago! It seems like so long ago now...and I miss the amount of Carla drama we were being treated to! |

I don't just watch corrie for Carla and Peter but it really does tend to be better when they're in it. Despite things being better for Carla its such a shame that the big storing is all over now really since it really did make the whole programme more interesting. I quite liked tonights episodes but not happy about the lack of carter, I understand it but I would still rather they had a couple of scenes thrown in for us.

Woohoo to part 2 of the thread
![]() Tthough I do agree kitkat, it does make multi-quote posting too much hassle. Bah! So attempting to reference what I can remember from old thread and Thursday and Friday eps, or what I can remember until tiredness kicks in and I have to attempt to sleep! Thanks those who replied, it is good to be back on here ![]() Agree it's good that Stella is feeling guilty. The fact she does feel guilty does suggest that word has got out about why Anne killed Frank though, otherwise why would Stella suddenly believe Carla was raped. Hope she does apologise to Carla. re Carchelle on Thursday. that TeamC&P on the old thread introduced the verb "barlow" in reference to drinking, think the earlier conversation about an alternative meaning of the word as a verb was before you joined the thread, but it reminded me of that conversation (just thought I'd be the first to lower the tone of part 2 of the thread)carlow barlow, yes that was my fic , thanks for the review. ![]() Re custody battle
Spoiler
RE insomnia, using spoilers as off topic
Spoiler
Will have to catch up with the fan videos and fanfics at some point, but maybe not tonight. Well I might do one or two fics only. There seems to have been a sudden increase in fanfic, not that I'm complaining, but it's going to take a while to catch up and review it all. |

I knew that when I said it might in some ways be good to get a break from Carla and Peter as it has been in so intense, that I'd miss them when they weren't there. Even my wife, who missed a few episodes asked for an update on their storyline and seemed disappointed that there didn't seem to be one.
Re Sunita and Karl and someone drawing C&P parallels to the car scene. I didn't really get that, but I was really resentful the other night when they were having a secret liaison in the alley, I was all "that's Carla and Peter's secret alley, get out!" although, I'm sure it has been used by other couples in the past. |

fanic request: it might be a bit hard to write but i think it would be quite interesting to read a fic about what could of happened if leanne and carla were still bestfriends when peter and carla had the affair.as if leanne never found out carla fancied peter.i just think it would be interesting to read if anyone wouldn't mind having a go at writing it??

Yey to lowering the tone!
I remember the last barlowed conversation purely because I was the one that said I was barlowed and can't say I would be unhappy with the alternative meaning. (though it would have to be peter, not ken I don't fancy being 1001) I hate that there are comparisons between Karl/sunita and peter/Carla because our carter is about so much more and was built up over a long time and is just generally a better sl. And agree they totally own that alley, I love that scene 'where d'ya want me? Over the bins?' pha

Ali deserves a break, but I agree, Corrie without Carla is... dull :/
holly1412, I may give it a go, only thing is, I really want to read someone else's version! So, I'll agree to give it a go only if someone else does too :P |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QahfK...1&feature=plcp Thank you Holz! I'm glad you like it! ![]() Definatly like the song choice Eden, agree that it works to have somthing more this style for Frank and Carla. Oh, and i also watched you 'born to die' video whilst playing the music behind it, don't know why i havn't allready done this must have run out of time then forgotten or something when you first posted it. Anyway, this may be my fave Carter video as the clips really do suit the song ridiculouisly well, plus i love the song so it's doing it for me. did amuse me for the first few seconds though trying to match up the video witht he song as i played it. can tell you listen to the music a lot when you edit it as all the transitions fit to the tune and me being slightly ocd i had to make sure i got them perfectly in time. |

Mad! Wow I adore the video so much! Love all the effects and the rapid changing between scenes (clearly I know so many technical terms). Some of the shots with certain lyrics are exactly like I pictured it in my head. Basically you just made me very giddy and I found it very effective. But then I've loved that song for the longest time.
And count me as another vote for not wanting Sally to buy into the factory. For all the niceness in their last scene I just think giving Sally that kind of power would just upset the balance. I don’t think their personalities are compatible at all and Sally always gets unbearable when she’s after power. Maybe if she’s finally allowed to succeed she might relax and be a better person but I just don’t want to find out. Also Carla may have said there was no need to apologise/wants to put it all behind them etc but I don’t think she could instantly trust Sally as a business partner after how cruel she has been. I like Carla working with Michelle and Hayley as supervisor too much. I was doing a multi post a few nights back and had to go out so I just put it in word as I was half way through yet another essay so expect that soon but just remembered a few people taking about Carla giving up on the factory. I’d rather she didn’t, or at least waited till everything with Frank is properly in the past. What would concern me is that the factory means that Carla interacts with a lot of characters she wouldn’t otherwise. If she wasn’t there it would dramatically limit who she would have scenes with. And also they would have to find the perfect thing for her to do instead. Couldn’t be any existing job on the street and I think she will still need to be her own boss. I’m not sure how it would work. Yay too part two but boo at losing old posts. |

And the multi post from the old thread I meant to post days ago. Apologise for saying stuff that’s already been covered but everyone said such interesting things that I wanted to comment on. Quote:
eden!!! pretty much wan to comment one erevy bit of your post but since I'm in a quite typical student 4am state (aka drink as f"@k) i'm no really prepred to start quoting your post which is a shame considering thta i'm a much more intersting and opinionated person when I'm drunk, but tech ability is letting me down! I shall try and reply tomoroow wen I cn actually amke sense of things!
![]() Quote:
Eden if you're viewing the fanfic comment as a challenge then you should take it as a challenge and write a birthday fic
I'm sure you can do realistic happy. I'm not a huge fan of delerious happy anyway. It's nice at the time but then reality kicks in. Like that whole loved up Carla and Peter park scene. It was kind of cute to see them so happy but soon after that Peter was crap and Carla came crashing back down.Quote:
Whereas I don't feel the same about Peter. He is a complex character with many elements to his personality, but whilst only having secondhand knowledge of chunks of his past I think I still have a good understanding of him.
But if you ever get bored watching old Carla episodes is a great way to spend time. Like I saw some episodes last night that I haven’t seen before that gave context to when Carla slapped Maria. It made Carla’s actions seem a lot more justifiable and Maria rather passive aggressive and insecure. Quote:
Also it feels like quite a few people view Liam as the perfect man for Carla, that no one else can compare too . I' m not saying anyone is claiming he didn't have flaws and I know most of Carla's previous partners have huge flaws and that Peter is far from perfect and often is more of a problem than a support, but I feel sceptically about the idea of Liam and Carla's relationship being so perfect (well besides the existence of Paul and then Maria)
There was always the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton comparison that I felt was very deliberate by the writers. When Liam first got with Maria, Sean compared them to the couple and Maria was all “Who?” and then of course there is that reference when Liam and Carla first got together. And while no relationship is perfect I do feel Liam and Carla were right for each other and that they did stand a chance if they got out of each others way. If Liam had survived and they got together I can’t help but think it would either be like a fanfiction on cf (What If) or they would be like Taylor and Burton, they would be passionate and they would argue and break up but they will always come back to each other and can’t do without one another. Quote:
And another vote for this too - I love your fanfics Eden, and there's a definite lack of happy stories at the moment.
. I will post a link or something if I do end up writing a birthday fic.Quote:
And Peter too, I only realised from a main DS thread last week that he was (briefly) involved with Maria. Had a quick look at an episode from Tracey's trial in 2007, and very bizarre to see Carla, Leanne, Liam, Peter and Maria all involved with each other in completely different combinations of friendships/relationships.
And Liam and Leanne always strikes me as bizarre and looking back I find it interesting because before hand, and after when things ended so badly, Liam often went for pretty, unchallenging, docile type girls. Leanne was like the first step towards a more Carla type person and while this was all happening Leanne was literally emulating Carla and trying to fit into their group as a way to battling her extremely low self worth. Possibly over thinking but I just like the way it all fits together. Quote:
I thought that scene where she talked about what she'd wanted in life (nice boyfriend, holidays, turnover at factory etc.) was quite telling that she didn't mention a child/family at all. I'm glad she didn't because it would have seemed forced, but the carefree life she described sounded more to me like what she'd have had with Liam. Obviously their chemistry and emotional connection was amazing, but I've not seen enough episodes with Liam to judge whether they'd have really been compatible long-term.
It’s heartbreaking that Carla has only really just been looking to belong all this time. She just wants a simple life and to be happy but with everything that has happened I think she will really struggle to get out of her own way for that to ever happen. Quote:
Totally agree. I think the fact that they were the same age (nearly) whereas Paul was that bit older made a difference as well. Not that age necessarily matters in a relationship, but Carla and Liam just seemed to be more similar in a lot of ways that Carla and Paul. I have this whole idea of Paul being almost like... not a father figure as such, but that he kind of helped Carla out and I think she was definitely changed for the better and probably saved from becoming the person that we're lead to believe her mother was by Paul. Someone described him as her meal ticket on the main forum, and has harsh as I found it, there was an element of truth there. Anyway what I'm trying to say is I think Paul did a similar thing for Liam, setting him up in business etc (he said as much to Tony) and I think Carla connected with and related better to Liam than to Paul.
Liam was always in Paul’s shadow and so played up the fact he was younger and immature. I get the feeling he would have been to immature and a late developer for Carla back when she first got with Paul. They were in different stages of their lives. It does bug me that people make out Carla was using Paul. He wasn’t just a meal ticket he was her husband. She was entirely committed. She wasn’t just some bimbo wag type that had the factory land on her lap. For the whole time she’s been on the show Carla fought to be working, for her own business. With things like Paul spending the money they set aside for her it was almost like he was sabotaging her. She was constantly being told who she was and she sort of played up the role sometimes. Plus Paul pretty much gave Liam everything he had and yet that never seemed to get judged as much. Quote:
I was wondering the same about Ryan after Michelle got back from visiting him and said he sends his love. It's kind of the typical social thing you say, but as far as I remember, Ryan wasn't exactly Carla's biggest fan when he left, I don't think he'd really forgiven her over Tony, so either he's kind of moved on from that while he's been away or Michelle mentioned it and it was her (or his) subtle way of showing he cared? I dunno. I think too deeply about this kind of thing. But yeah, as much as I hate Helen with a passion, I do quite want her to come back for a bit, just to see her reaction to everything.
Quote:
For some reason seeing that scene reminded me of the scene when Maria goes to Carla's directly after the rape and Carla says something like, "go on, say it. I told you so". And the way she seemed to struggle to understand how Maria could be so supportive after what had happened between them, both with Frank and also with Liam. It was like she expected her to turn her back on her, like she didn't think she deserved anything else. If I ever actually type up what I've written of the second chapter of What Was Done, I've kind of touched on this in that.
Quote:
Am I the only one who really likes Howard? He's barely in it, but I wish we'd see more scenes of him with Peter and actually with Carla as well. Did we ever know anything about him, other than that he runs the support group? Any background when he was first introduced or anything?
Quote:
This! It's weird how when you watch pre summer '07 episodes back you can kind of see the subtle connection between Carla and Liam. They make comments about hating each other yet are just so comfertable with each other. I always think that Carla loved Paul, but he was hard work and she could never be herself around him because he did kind of see her as a bit of a 'trophy wife' which just isn't who she is.
Quote:
Ha ha
This is possibly the worst whodunnit ever! Quote:
So sad, eh? I absolutely agree with you, if Carla had married Frank then something would have happened. She may not have been raped but there's no chance it would have been a happy ever after.
Quote:
Found it weird we had no Carter scenes even though they were both in the pub at the same time? Hope we get some good ones on Thursday. Was nice to see Simon and Peter together though.
Quote:
So relieved we didn't have to watch Kevin struggle to get the knife off Anne, that would've been seriously cringey. I didn't expect her to actually go for Carla! That was pretty powerful.
Quote:
Eden - saw you were feeling a bit crappy? Hope you're feeling better now *hugs*
![]() Quote:
Can't remember who mentioned about Ali maybe smoking again? But if she is I can certainly see how that's happened (if it actually has and it's not just to do with filming). I quit smoking a few years ago, but if I had to work several hours a day several days a week with a smoker / kissing one, I'd certainly find my will power waning a bit too. Always amuses me in scenes where Peter's smoking and Carla wafts at the smoke like it's irritating her

Gone over word limit again ![]() Quote:
You would think he'd realise Carla's as stressed as he is (hence empty fridge)... but then I vaguely remember another shot of Carla's somewhat empty fridge so maybe that's just drawing on the fact she neglects herself a bit? Of course, that aside, Peter can seriously do shopping for himself it's not like it's Carla's job to do everything lol.
Quote:
I found this quite odd, seeing as he would say to Carla that she was in denial about her problem, and said as much mere days ago. But maybe he's decided what we've all been saying - that she's not necessarily a full blown alcoholic and that it's more of an emotional thing. Also, it looks better from a custody perspective him saying she's not.
I think that at the moment it has been the worst possible time for Carla to face up to her drinking. She’s been too fragile and in need of all her coping mechanisms while after everything that has happened. I hope that when she is able to put Frank behind her she will be strong enough to confront the drink issue. Quote:
I was watching old episodes the other day and realised I really miss Steve and Michelle together. The Christmas day episode when Steve had to go into the cab office and Carla was teasing him and was kind of draped over him...
![]() ![]() Quote:
I am so confused about why only Carla's finger prints where on the blastard bottle. EXPLAIN please corrie!
![]() Quote:
Haha, they really were laying it on thick with the whole Carla/Michelle draping tonight. Its mega cute, makes me smile :')
Quote:
What confused me most about that scene was that Maria/Michelle were sat right next to Carla at the funeral - how could they not have seen/heard Anne say sorry to her?
Random observation; that was yet another wedding/funeral that Carla has run out before the end. She’s been doing this since Liam’s funeral. Quote:
Okay so - no mention, no bandage, no stitches, not even a sodding plaster. I'm sorry but - hello! There was enough blood there to at least require a plaster and there was no mention of it at all
![]() I'd really wanted him to go to the hospital and get her but alas, seems like that's going to irritate me till some fanfic is written to make it all better ![]() And I’m working on a fic carrying on from Anne dropping the knife but I think it will take me a while. Quote:
also forgot to say about last nights episode was suprised that carla wanted to keep it quiet to everyone why anne had killed frank not suprising that peter wanted to tell people the truth.. you would of thought she would of wanted people to know she was telling the truth about the rape.. but maybe we will see this in the next few episodes. def hoping smug leanne and stella find out the truth!
lets hope we get some peter carla action tonight! ![]() |

I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
![]() One random note, I really want Carla to have her hair like she did in that scene with Trevor where she bit into his pie :P Her hair was kind of down, but her fringe pined back, not sure if they could really do it now that she doesn't have a fringe. And also, in that scene I use a lot in my videos aha, where she is on the street in her cream coat, and Peter's buying flowers for someone, and she kind of has her hair in a bob/ pony tail and pined back in places. |

Just had a little glance in soap life says Carla agrees to Sally's offer and it also says she struggles playing mum to Simon... Ken goes behind peters back with Leanne regarding Simon so still no good stuff for carter lol I haven't read any other mag yet tho

Oh and Eden, I agree. I say I'd love Carla to have a baby, but truthfully I wouldn't. It just doesn't seem to be something she wants, and also, if she did have a baby (in the nicest way possible) she'd be stuck with it, and I'd be worried Ali would get bored playing her and then leave.

I really should be packing my bag for tomorrow and/or getting ready to leave to see my client, but what the hell. Quote:
I was very glad she did not mention children. It just wouldn’t be in character and I’m a bit anti making my fave character pregnant anyway (hate it when make out independent, strong woman can only find fulfilment through children. Not that its not a valid choice to make it just feels like some characters are forced into the mould). To the point that I will stop reading a story if it turns out to be all about pregnancy.
It’s heartbreaking that Carla has only really just been looking to belong all this time. She just wants a simple life and to be happy but with everything that has happened I think she will really struggle to get out of her own way for that to ever happen. Quote:
Paul was like a saviour for all involved and that’s the way he liked it. Yes he did take Carla away from the life she could have had and that would have made him appealing but Carla did genuinely love him, she spent about ten years of her life with him and for all their problems she never cheated (see Carla is clearly capable of a long term committed relationship) I think Carla probably matured quite early (probably had too) so she would have had more of a connection with Paul. Exactly. And that's true about Carla maturing more quickly than Liam - I hadn't really thought about it like that but it does make a lot of sense. Plus Paul pretty much gave Liam everything he had and yet that never seemed to get judged as much. Quote:
Reminds me to hurry up and go comment on What Was Done when I get a chance. Honestly it really impressed me. All the way through the rape plot Carla has been blaming herself or putting words into peoples mouths like she was in the interview and she kept on saying “I know what you’re thinking.”
N'aw, thanks Quote:
Most defiantly, it was never going to be a normal relationship. Frank would have got more obsessed and controlling and Carla would have eventually snapped and pushed back and something terrible would happen. Watching old episodes when they were a couple I find myself cringing now. Lots of little things he says and does are very telling but were always done in such a way that you wouldn’t really notice till it is too late. If Carla hadn’t been dealing with Peter/her mothers death/drinking/depression etc she would have ‘rebelled’ against Frank’s control a lot earlier I think.
Two scenes stand out for me with regards to Frank's behaviour pre-rape. The scene in which he basically manipulates Carla into agreeing to marry him is really unsettling, the way he makes her out to be selfish and petty, and then he brings Peter in because he knows that'll hurt her... Argh it's just awful. And the other one being when Frank surprised Carla by taking her back to that house which he's now bought, and goes on about turning that room into a nursery. The scene later on when they're sat in the kitchen and he's got his arm around her... The way he says about the kid being asleep upstairs, despite the fact that he can no doubt see from Carla's reaction she's not keen... I dunno, it just gives me the creeps. Andrew Lancel did a brilliant job of playing that subtly creepy, something's-not-quite-right thing. Quote:
In my head I’ve decided that Carla is not big on food. She can’t and doesn’t like to cook, she eats out a lot, when she’s down there are always often others trying to tempt her into eating. Plus she’s been only looking after herself for a while, it is easier to just forget about making proper meals. It’s my head cannon anyway and it makes me happy as I’m quite similar (may have had a mild temper tantrum over trying to make dinner tonight)
