Considering I've been to most of her other concerts (that I knew about) I thought I may aswel go!

Well I think I've followed you all now guys (well those who put their usernames up the other day anyway)

I could see her maybe mentoring a troubled teenager in an unofficial way. That would work, be in character and could give a new insight into Carla. But babies and being pregnant are such dull things. I mean, I’m sure it is great in real life to feel something grow inside you and have someone you love unconditionally, but for a storyline, it’s pretty much months of nothing but a character getting fatter. And babies on soaps are pretty much accessories that hinder a characters storyline. I mean I love Simon but he is older and a good character in his own right. Plus he is not actually Carla’s so she won’t always be tied by his needs.
I dunno, when it comes to baby fics there are a large amount always written by young girls and I’ve never understood why they are always so intent on getting their fave character pregnant, like that’s the only way for them to be happy. Happens in every fandom I’ve ever read. I also get really uncomfortable when similar type of writers give the character a long lost daughter that they had in their teens. It always seems to be an awkward and thinly veiled attempt of writing themselves and things never go right when you write yourself or a mary-sue.
I really am not a fic snob honest.


Have to point out that if a story is well written and in character I will try and read on. Actually I think the most interesting story I read ages ago was when Carla re appeared after Tony’s confession to Liam’s murder with a baby but she didn’t know who the father was. I liked it because it was such an odd situation with Carla a mixture of maternal and incredibly dark, steely anger and grief. For some reason she was back in the flat with Tony for a while and I think it was the dialogue I found compelling.


With the whole surprise house thing, the whole episode especially as he drags her into the pub she looks incredibly uncomfortable. Like she’s sitting all hunched looking at her drink as he plays with her hair. And what was he doing forcing her to go into the pub in the first place? Frank has to know that she’s uncomfortable with the idea of children and yet he carries on regardless. And has her drinking I can’t help but think that it is all carefully planned. And when he says he can’t imagine how in love with her he is, I imagine he has never made that type of connection with anyone. Like his relationships with everyone else were just fickle and he could drop them no problem. But he actually felt something so strong for Carla, it wasn’t love, he wasn’t capable of love. I wonder if he saw her as more of an equal, like someone who was powerful in their own right who could make him feel and he wanted to posses and control that.

Also the scenes after he finds out she went to visit Stella in the hospital. It wasn’t so much the angry bits (although his temper is scary) its how quickly he goes from calm to angry and back again. How he starts controlling her and passing it of as looking out for her (like how he told her not to turn her phone off) and how he needs to know every detail of what she’s been doing. And he goes back to calm to get her back onside and manipulate her into more guilt. I found the “You don’t see yourself as lovable.” And the lines about the damage her exs have caused, lines very interesting because it is the truth. He knows her well enough but he uses it against her in such a way. It is just very creepy. And at the end he plays the hurt martyr and she’s apologising to him once again.
I’m going on sorry but just quickly checked out the mentioned scenes on youtube and Carla was wearing extremely high heels while with Frank and I want them.



Please go back to that if you can, sounds interesting. And I think I know what you are getting at and it is a very separate thing from an eating disorder. Maybe because I identify quite a bit. There is something about putting the stress or emotions dealing with something else on to food and how it is easier to avoid it sometimes. Could explain more but I feel it would be a bit egocentric and I’m already going on a lot.

I’m 24 and they wouldn’t serve me at a gig last week as I had no ID which was a great excuse to overdo the energy drinks. But yes I think looking younger is a good thing long run. On average I think people assume I’m in my late teens.


See I took that scene as probably as nice and genuine as Frank can get. I mean on the surface he deals with her drinking well by not forcing her to put the bottle down when she was being so determined to carry on self destructing. He seems quite concerned when she just walks out in front of a car and the way he sits her down. I just think that it’s the first real time he has seen any weakness in Carla. He seemed to go for easier targets at first (Michelle, Maria) but he paid no interest in Carla that way. I can’t say he respected her because that man couldn’t do that but he recognised her skills work wise and that she wasn’t to be messed with. Then suddenly Peter is pushing him in Carla’s direction and he can look after (and have power) over this woman. As he goes to get his car he literally stops and just looks at her like something is changing. Then it’s when she tries to kiss him and he doesn’t take advantage. I suppose by doing that and waiting for her to soberly make the choice to be with him gives him more power/makes the relationship mean more. That’s how I read it anyway.

That’s a load of pants *hugs*. I tend to write multi quotes in word now simply as I can’t get my head around them in those stupid little boxes. I’m also paranoid about my spelling but luckily it means I’m less likely to lose stuff.

Thank you, didn’t actually happen (so frustrating as been waiting two weeks) as there are still builders in behind schedule but I did manage to meet some higher up bosses and sort some things out when I could have left so I hope I created a good impression. I love that film! Watched it when it was all on youtube a long while back (under the Final Contract: Death on Delivery title though). It is really bad and cheesy fun and I just found myself willing Alison’s character to win (but then I’ve always supported badies in that type of thing) She has a crossbow and a helicopter and you just know it must be such fun to shoot. Plus I love her first scenes in the film. Damn I want to find it again now.

I feel very much the same. The Darren I imagine is rough and has a dark side but is a lot like Carla in a way, he is handsome and charming when he wants to be and for some reason I imagine he smokes. I think that he spent a lot of time letting his anger and his family situation influence him and get him in trouble and he at least subconsciously resents Carla for getting a new life but another part of him is proud and protective. I like the Darren in my head and I don’t want to see one that contradicts it.


I think Simon won’t really understand what it means and is just parroting Leanne so wouldn’t blame him. Ironically I think it would be better if he said it to Carla and Peter didn’t know. Sure it would hurt Carla but I think she would deal with it better.

I used to be all for Carla having a baby, but the more I think about it the more I don't want it to happen. In fics, yes, I don't mind that, I like imagining how she would be with kids. But not on Corrie, just because, like I say it is permanent and I love her being this single, independent woman. Not to mentioned she hasn't expressed any desire to have them.

does anyone think we will actually get any happy storylines/scenes for peter/carla anytime soon just seems one bad thing after another since they have got together..

The only realistic way to bring a pregnancy into Carla’s storylines would be for it to be an unplanned one and explore how her and Peter deal with that situation. Could also be good to see a older couple who don’t really want a baby deal with an unplanned pregnancy rather than it be a teenage couple or be a happy situation like it was for say Julie and eventually Brian. Can see Peter being shocked to start with and then really wanting the baby and Carla the one having doubts.

A baby doesn’t have to be the end of exciting storylines for either of them. Mums still run their own business, they still have to chase orders and higher staff. The opposite sex still find them attractive and may be interested in chasing them. Would explore more and open up relationships with both Simon and Ken not to mention how Leanne would feel. The script just has to leave room in it to explain that said baby is at the nursery / grandparents because Carla continuing to work for as long as possible and quite quickly after a baby is born is not that unrealistic for her character at all.

What I wouldn’t like to see is a baby just for the sake of it.

Loving the Carla as a mum debate. I for one can't imagine Carla running off to Mothercare as soon as she finds out!

I think though, if they were to go down the baby route, it could be incredibly well done. I imagine Carla really struggling to bond, palming the baby off, acting okay and not telling anyone the truth. Basically Peter being the main carer, and Carla refusing to be alone without it. I can honestly see her in my head shouting at the baby, sobbing her heart out, begging it to stop crying.

Then maybe seeing her starting to bond with him/her, admitting she loves them but thinking she isn't good enough.

It would also leave from for some great character development, Carla's past experiences etc. And could give Leanne and Simon some great involvement too.

It could be really powerful stuff and there's no doubt Ali could pull it off easily!

With regards to Darren.. Is it Darren? Cos all the info so far in suggesting not. Darren and Carla hate each other don't they? So why would he help her out?

I was thinking maybe her brother coming might be linked to Ryan and the drugs storyline? Could be interesting.

Kym Marsh has hinted a lot that Michelle needs a new man.. Hoping it's not Carla's brother as I can see that causing a lot of tension between her and Carla, and I'm loving their friendship right now!

Ok, I know this is kind of old news now, but haven't had chance to come on here so you'll just have to deal with my late reaction I have a few thoughts on this, so I'm just going to go ahead and type em up.

Firstly, I was like 'Darren's coming'! Although, as we all know since then we found out that it won't be Darren coming, but another brother of Carla's. So it's the same one that Carla was talking about when her Mum died but not the one who went to Strangeways. However, judging by aliJcorrie's twitter, it looks like Darren has disappeared off the face of the Earth (well Corrie anyway...) because she didn't know who he was. Good..... -_-

He is supposed to be the new bad boy of the street, which I have to admit I am kind of looking forward to. They've said we don't yet know whether he will be protective over Carla or bring trouble for her, and I was thinking about this:

It says on the Corrie website that he will be helping Carla out at the factory so this suggests he will be supportive of Carla...
...However when he was last mentioned at the funeral, he really ripped into her. This might have been just because he was grieving, but I got the impression during those scenes that they had never got on.

On a REALLY good note, it looks like we are finally going to find out a lot more about Carla's past! Which actually makes me super excited.

And now I'm waiting for the first "Carla's brother turns up on the street" fanfic, because we all know it's going to happen soon.


With regards to the whole Carla pregnant storyline, I thought I'd just share my views on the whole thing. Personally, I wouldn't want the storyline to happen. I'm not saying that if they decided they wanted to go down this route that I wouldn't enjoy it, as I'm sure Ali would do it justice as always and, as TeamCarter said, there's a lot of ways they could go with a storyline like this.

However, I personally prefer Carla as the unpredictable, independent woman she is now. I'm not saying she couldn't do this with a child as well, because obviously she can, but I think she would try to tone herself down just a little bit, even just unintentionally, as it would be a massive part of her life. Okay, I'm really not explaining myself very well, sorry. But yeah, she doesn't want children (that was very clear from when she was with Frank) so I don't really want her to have one as it is not something she wants.

The most i've spent is about £70 for Take That tickets, bought them off eBay because ticketmaster was a complete fail the morning they went on sale, I just had to see Robbie though

I do agree that Carla getting pregnant could make a brilliant storyline but knowing Corrie and their recent patterns with Carter it would all be doom and gloom, I can imagine them going down the grim route of a sort of booze enduced miscarriage :-/

Was watching a variety of old Corrie clips. Back in November, when Carla returned from LA Carla and Michelle had pretty much as much physical interaction as they do now, I'd just assumed it had increased a bit.

Love the Carla/Liam wedding dress scenes. Still watching completely out of sequence though, so struggling to really get a proper picture of things.

Oh and I don't really see Sally and Carla getting on as partners either and don't want it to happen, definitely don't want Peter to be Carla's business partner, it wouldn't work (plus, as pointed out I don't want him to die a horrible death).

Also wanted to say my comment about plane crash and Stella and Leanne was slightly tongue in cheek, I don't (quite) dislike them that much, and even though I on the whole don't like Leanne I think she's an interesting character so wouldn't want her to leave.

OceanAndARock: I started watching all the Liarla stuff back completely randonly at first too but eventually gave in a watched it all in order right back from when Carla was first introduced. (though there was lots missing untill paul died really) I ended up watching two years of corrie in about a month, it was time consuming but well worth it. Love the wedding dress scene, it's hhhot! Favourite will always be their first night together though, cried like a baby watching that last scene.

kitkat, so far I'm too lazy as I'm assuming there's not a convenient playlist of just Carla stuff with all the scenes in chronological order, and the effort to find the dates of the relevant episodes, then find those eps and the scenes within those eps. (ElleBelle you are marvelous for making Carla/Peter so easy to rewatch).

I think I've only been to 5 concerts in my life . Of those I think there were only 2 that I particularly wanted to go to, the others were because other people wanted to go. I have seen variations of Bad Girls the Musical 4 times though, oh and bizarrely I went to see The Fully Monty at the cinema 4 times when I was at uni (which was definitely nothing to do with the stripping, at the time I just loved the humour of it, though I no longer have any interest in the film).

Haha, that's brilliant I've always wanted to go to see Kylie purely because her tours always look so camp! I watched Les Folies when they showed it on TV and it just looked so brilliantly ott with all the water and crazy dancers, looked like it would have been amazing to be there.

I know i friend of mine went last year to the redcarpet as he was showing me all their photos and i'm pretty sure it must have been manchester or atleast up north somewhere since I don't think they're the sort of people who would have travelled far for it.

And if you watch xcorrieclassicsx find a starting point and they pretty much come up in order. Though that way you do have to sit through some episodes where not much happens too so if you just want the main bits you are probs best watching the random clips.

They are sooooo camp but a lot of fun. Omg at Les Folies, I was front row and got soaked! It was hilarious but not fun going back on the tube all damp :/

I've written an outline but not got round to actually polishing it off yet. I'm not altogether happy with it, so I'm afraid I couldn't tell you how long it'll be till I get round to finishing it. But then I have Distance on the go and a story from a different fandom, and I'm kind of reluctant to start new stuff when I really need to finish those.

Final Contract
I quite enjoyed it. The romance between the main character and the other woman is a bit cheesy and predictable, but if nothing else watching Alison's character kick-ass in that rather nice outfit makes it worth a watch.
And as for only watching because of the actress - I totally do that. In fact, I think a lot of people do whether or not they'd admit it. When you find an actor/actress you like, just makes sense to me you want to seek out other stuff they've been in. Add to that it's one of the biggest ways to sell a film at the cinema for example - getting a popular star or particular director probably ensures more money being made (although obviously there are other elements, I certainly think this is a big one).

Glad you liked the pic of Chris too - I totally want to sort his hair out

See I'd kind of thought she must have more than one brother. The younger one at the funeral who was a sod, and the older one (Darren) who was in prison - who I really always thought might be protective of her - even to the extent I had a little mini fic in my head where he was desperate to get money for the family or maybe just Carla?! and to help look after them and that's why he was on the rob... rather than that he was just a thug. If that makes any sense.


re: pregnancy - I'm not sure the right psychological term for it but I know sometimes when you write you find yourself putting some of your hopes/aspirations into a story... not always necessarily meaning to, but maybe it's just that the writer's ideal is that there'll be a baby (as they would want that personally)...
I think it's probably more of a risk when you write your own character into a story - it's certainly something I'm wary about myself so I'll only add an OC if it's essential to the plot, whilst not taking away from the main characters of that particular fandom.
I certainly know what you mean about mary-sue-ing (or gary-stu?) though.


Maybe she'll let her brother live there if he's coming to help her out? In which case, still not the same but at least the flat will still be on the tele.

Lol I probably should have explained better, I wouldn't want Peter working there, but I thought it might be nice if he bought it then signed it over to Carla. Would be lovely for her - because he knows how important that place is to her, and to be in control of 100% of it... big (expensive) gesture of course but that was the idea.
I don't know what he'd do instead of running the bookies, but maybe work on his relationship with Simon, and put more effort into his alcohol problem (and heck, it would be very 21st century for him to stay at home whilst Carla is the breadwinner) =)


It's not that hard - and just think you could save some money, stop having to go outside for a fag, and not have a horrid constant cough (although maybe that was just me when I was smoking lol).

The custody storyline is going to aggravate hell out of me. I'd rather they had Leanne making a clean break - still seeing Simon on and off but getting on with her life rather than clinging onto her old one (and also stressing Peter out - which is going to cause him to be tempted to drink) - I think if Leanne had actually left Carla/Peter might even have sorted more out with Simon and things might be more positive by now.
