I remember when BTW came out, there was a very mixed reception on this forum. Some fans didn't think he new material was as instant and catchy as the more light-hearted TF and didn't like the new direction, some people also didn't feel it lived up to previous material or the hype surrounding it.

Interestingly though, I know personally and have read that a lot of people weren't fans of her previous work but loved the new album.

This has made me wonder what it is that people want from Lady GaGa, can she blend her more serious lyrics that carry her message with the more instant, catchy pop music that she displayed on TF? Is that what people want? Do you want her to stop taking pages from Madonna's guide to being a pop genius? Do you want her to start being more low-key in her performances/outfits etc? Or do you even want a new GaGa, with a completely different direction and maybe even a shift in genre?

Make good music. And not be so weird. She was ace with The Fame, and we loved her. Then she started to get all freaky, and it put people off her. See this: 'there's a line between genius and weird, and Lady Gaga's starting to blur that line'.

She should also space out her singles i.e. 3 months between each. No need for cannibalising the sales of one single because the fans like another. They can damn well wait.

Only one thing - No more 12 minute music videos I don't want to watch dialogue during music videos. A video to go along with the music is fine, GaGa.

LOL...she's no Michael Jackson. Bad is the example of how to make a perfect mini movie that works. MTN did work, but the start seemed totally unrelated to the rest i.e the institution bit.

A Jazz album would be great but that isn't going to happen, as someone who was a fan of BTW and hated the Fame I'd like her to keep going foward. I really don't think returning to the Fame formula would work well at all. I'd like her to use more Rock elements in her music as well You and I is my favourite song by Gaga and that has a nice rock and roll element to it.

I get what you mean, I myself am a huge Lady GaGa fan (I'm not a little monster, I find the term really cringey and almost cult-like) but there's just something that I don't like about her anymore and I can't really put my finger on it. I loved her outfits for most of her first album campaign, even more so when she wasn't that big and had a lower budget so they weren't so ridiculous, but now it seems more just desperate attention seeking and then i annoys me when she calls it "art". Dressing up as a man and praising yourself in character before performing a song is a little too much for me tbh.

Yeah. I'm a big fan, and most I speak to think she's either weird or they don't rate (my dad) her. I kept saying she's talented, and he's like 'whatever'. I agree with you totally. Also, I agree with the posters above. I liked most of BTW but some of it just seemed random, and it was made for controversy i.e 'Black Jesus + Amen Fashion'. I mean WTF does that mean? The Telephone on her head? Meat dress? Big old ass shoulder pads looking like some Star Trek character...and the worst bit is, it's designer. It costs her an arm and a leg. She can be Elton John Crazy, but keep it on stage. Be passionate, but don't alienate people. She's in such a unique position and she should remember that. She'll be like Madonna and do whatever she wants though.

In her videos too, the Avant garde fashion seems odd. It makes no sense. And the Jo character...no one even cared. Everyone was raving about Adele and then Beyonce overshadowed them all with a rub of the tum. Understated and quiet actions. All 3 have talent and the latter let it show, they perform and are normal. Gaga goes to lengths, and it doesn't always work. I watched the Monster Ball on Sky tv, and it was good, but she was crazy with the swearing and random exclamations. I get she was badly bullied, as was I, but I don't go on like that, even if I want to.

I prefer BTW to her other work, for me it feels like it is an embodiment of the popstar she dreamt of being growing up and I really like the message the album gives out as well. I also think most of the material on there is stronger than that from TF. Although I agree it does have it's moments of "WTF?", I don't like Black Jesus and I never listen to it as it really doesn't make sense and seems like she just wanted to throw in an extra religious reference to me.

I've been a fan of hers since August 2008, so before she got really big and I remember watching an interview she did around September time that year when she was promoting "Just Dance" and she was wearing a black dress with gold chains and stuff on it and it had these kind of shoulder pad attachments on it but down near her waist and she said it was so she had somewhere to rest her hands when she put her hands on her hips. It was quirky, yet cool at the same time and she was interesting without being too out there and outrageous like she is now. I would like that Lady GaGa back image-wise, but I don't mind what she dresses like really as long as I still find her music enjoyable

I must have weird taste to everyone here, because I think The Fame (minus Monster) is a front-loaded filler-filled bore of an album, while Born This Way is one of the most solid, consistent pop albums I've ever listened to. Personally I think Lady GaGa's on the right track, and don't really care if she doesn't get any more hit singles. Having a Number 1 isn't the be-all end-all of success.

Musically now, yes I do agree, that's what she wants to be, and it's her i.e MTN. And the shoulder pads thing, that's really cool and funny. I'd like her back too. In the past (lol she's only been around for 4 years!) she was all about the music, and then things started to change. I remember at school everyone said they wished she'd stop being so crazy, because her talent is there and it shines through, but the costumes make it look like she's masking it. I know she isn't and it's very Elton inspired, but you want to keep people on side. Be cool, edgy and different (she already is) but don't alienate your fanbase/potential fanbase.

Theme: The decay of fame and the fall of its icons, including personal reflection of her own celebrity. Both good and bad. (Practically confirmed)

Sound: Rock/dance/pop. Guitars, synths and big choruses, but also more intimate ballads and rock n roll piano jams to balance both sides of her.

Inspiration: 70s/80s stadium rock and pop. Elton, Springsteen, Cher, KISS, Sting etc. The people she listens to.

Tone: I think she needs to lighten up a bit to balance out dark themes/sounds. Not vapid, but just not always as intense/serious.

Content: Duet with Beyonce (continuation of PapaTele arc) and duet with Elton (confirmed), there's also a rumour that she worked with Coldplay (they RT'd her tweet about the next album randomly). I'd love for her to work with Kanye to continue their Fame Kills ideas, but that might be too much for one album.

Outwith the music: I do think she needs to improve her editing skills. Knowing what to leave out is just as important as what to include. The 'everything and the kitchen sink' approach should be addressed by collaborating with directors for her videos who can turn her ideas into a more cohesive concept. "Less is more" should probably be the "eras" mantra. I love the outfits and general outlandishness, don't get me wrong, but I think fewer statements would leave bigger impact. A more consistent visual, rather than a new look on a daily basis.

Oh, I also like the idea of her going back to brunette.

Ooh I'm not too sure. I loved both The Fame/Monster and BTW. I think either another BTW like album or a jazz album would be cool.

She needs to stop over complicating things. She needs to do the simple things well and inject the fun back into her music. I was a bit disappointed when I learned she was working with Garibay again as his songs are very dark. I'd love to hear more tracks like Poker Face, Monster, So Happy I could die, Just Dance mixed in amongst the heavy stuff

I REALLY want her to do a more stripped down jazz inspired album. I absolutely adore her acoustic unreleased tracks.

She should return to her roots! i loved the fame/monster but her new stuff is absolute gash. I dont like one single song on BTW, i find it all a pretentious condescending mess that hasnt got one single hit on it.
