Cheryl Cole - Tour??
WhisperingGhost
27-03-2012
I just realised that Cheryl Cole launched her solo career in 2009 and has so far released 2 No.1 album's, a string of popular singles and has performed numerous times, but has never gone on a solo tour.

Does anybody find it strange that after such success, any music act would NOT want to go on the road and tour the music that has been successful? If only even to 'cash in' as a lot of money can be made on tour.

Has she given any reason for this and also, (probably DS is the wrong place to ask this due to the fair amount of dislike for her on here) but if she announces a tour to coincide with her new album, would anybody be enticed enough to fork out to see her LIVE?

It is strange like you say, nearly all the money in music is to be made in touring as well.

Exactly. But (and I say this as a non so-called 'hater') maybe now that she is not earning £££'s for doing X Factor, she will have more of an incentive to go out on the road for the money (not that she really needs it anymore lol).

Also, her releases always seemed to coincide with her stints on the X Factor and her sales always started off quite high and quickly dropped once each season had ended as she wasnt on primetime TV once a week. Maybe now she will go on the road which will sustain sales of her new album rather than having large peaks followed by quick declines.

p.s I do realise I'm thinking about this WAYYY too much but it's my day off and I'm enjoying the frivolity of it

I think Cheryl has some series confidence issues being on stage without either the rest of Girls Aloud, or at least familiar faces supporting her (eg her support slot on the BEP tour). It's a shame actually, because as part of a group, she can REALLY perform, while the jury is still out on her solo - although her BEP slot was quite well recieved.

I guess we'll be seeing her in the reunion tour next year, but I am holding out hope for a solo tour from her at some point.

A 'live' tour would only show up her limitations as a singer, unless it was heavily auto-tuned and she could mime her way through her songs. Even then she and here team know that she'll be crucified (quite rightly) for doing so.

She can hide behind studio trickery on record, but playing live every night is a different ball game.

As someone else has pointed out, I think it's a confidence issue... i've only seen her perform on her own on a few occasions and the performances have not been all that great. It's difficult on your own as the attention is solely on yourself.

Think her and the management may have to consider touring though, artists don't make money off selling records... that all goes to her label. The money is made off ticket sales and merchandise. It was easier before because X Factor was paying her but that's not the case anymore, I expect she still makes quite abit off adverts, photoshoots etc.

She kinda toured. She was a support act for BEP's tour but never proper toured as a solo act. I reckon she will be a JLO and never tour.

Probably right -- Plus there is a vast difference between supporting and being the main act

You get a audience because they all paid to see the Main act not you and you only have to do around 30 - 45 minutes.

So you never have to worry about drawing a crowd or trying to hold their attention for a full 2 hour show

JLO has never toured?? That's even more strange to me since she's been making records for more than 12 years. Can't believe that - especially considering how huge she was between 2001-2004/5.

I think the reason JLO doesn't tour is because she's involved in hollywood movies... probably earning quite abit from that.

JLO has likely toured due to a case of CBA. You can still do movies, promote an album and tour. Beyonce and Madonna all worked films around doing tours.

I saw her live opening for The Black Eyed Peas and she actually did a great job!

I'm not sure if she'd be worth going to see as a standalone concert though..

She won't tour because I don't think she's really into her singing career that much....she must make enough money from album sales and promo anyway. Plus her voice is not cut out for extensive live singing and I haven't seen her trying to improve or get singing lessons etc...I don't think she can be bothered.

She never really had the time before...and she did support The Black Eyed Peas on their UK/European dates. Her set was about 45 minutes long - so it wasn't a one song affair. I think she doesn't have the confidence either - she hasn't since Popstars. She should tour though, there is demand for it.

Edit: I think I remember her saying once that she doesn't like to be on the road too much either.

It bothers me when artists come up with excuses not to tour
For me, your a proper artist when you showcase your work to an audience on a weekly basis

I think she plans on touring this album as she told a fan on twitter she was desperate too.
