HELP !! Installing ICS....
Can anyone advise me here, I was downloading the ICS for my phone (through Kies), it spent 40 minutes downloading then my phone changed to 'Downloading - Do not turn off target!!!' then a window popped up saying my phone was not recognised by the PC and Kies closed down, now the phone is stuck at this screen and Kies doesn't pick it up again ?????

Kies is phenomenally shite but that shouldn't have happened at all unless of course you have an old version of Kies which hasnt got a clue what ICS is, old USB drivers etc. Have you tried updating Kies and trying again? Pull the battery and see if the phone will boot into GB.

Sorted it, kept rebooting the phone and Kies and now I have ICS although not really sure what all the fuss was about!

Exactly what I said. Menu's are different and that's about it....
![]() Vanilla ICS is so much better than Vanilla Gingerbread and Honeycomb. |

Nobody has binned anything, its just an overlay. Could always install Nova launcher which mimics the holo theme.

Anyway, the upgrades done, everything is working and I'm still happy with my S2.... |

ICS is superb though and even if hidden under Touchwiz or Sense completely transforms the phone in terms of performance and usability.

I checked my SG2S for updates via the phone and it updated something...but I'm not sure what!?
It says it has Andriod 2.3.5 Build Gingerbread.XWKI8 What does this mean? To update to ICS do I have to do it via Kies? |
