Artists Referring to Themselves in the Third Person.

I quite like it when some artists do this: like in Give Me All Your Luvin' with 'L-U-V Madonna' and I can think of two Britney examples with the famous 'It's Britney Bitch' and another in another song by saying 'Cause new Britney's on a mission' - which was done to represent her comeback on Blackout.

But do you think that an artist has to reach a certain level before they do something like this? I know it's not an overly problem or anything, but I feel like an artist has to have a certain status before they self reference themselves or their songs. Like when Lady Gaga referenced 'Just Dance' on 'The Fame Monster' and we all know how much she likes factoring 'Gaga' in to almost every song! And Marina and the Diamonds did it quite a lot on only her first album!

I just think that a singer has to be a certain level before they do something like this as it displays confidence, cockiniess and arrogance and you probably need a career like Madonna's or Britney's before you do something like this...
