ipad 2 3g sim

i got a £7.50 sim card from tesco for 3 network for my ipad 2. tried putting it in tonight and it looks like a phone sim card. is this the right thing?

No, you need a micro-sim, like on an iphone. You might be able to get it cut-down, try asking round mobile phone shops to see if any have a cutter, they might do it for free. You could try cutting it yourself, but I don't recommend it. If you don't get it exact it could jam up your ipad.
