A bit of a weird one here but if Madonna ever decides to abdicate her Pop 'throne' who out of the following pop princesses deserves to take her place. Here are the artists; Lady Gaga, Christina, Britney, Kylie, Katy Perry and lastly Rihanna.

It's common knowledge and Madonna has stated herself she is Queen Of Pop and Kylie is Princess and thats how they like it pretty self explanatory.

Only one who has done enough to come close to either of them is Britney maybe in a few years Gaga, Rihanna, or Katy Perry

I always find the term 'Princess of Pop' is always thrown around a lot these days. It's like if 1 person has a few hits after coming on the scene she is immediately dubbed "the new Princess of Pop." In saying that, I'd say Kylie only because she's the only one I've heard called 'The Princess of Pop' more than the rest

Kylie and Britney are. Hell Kylie deserves it more. 25 years. That's five years less than Madonna

Gaga, no way.

I don't think any of the younger stars will have the musical or cultural impact Madonna has had in 30 years time. She's a phenomenon that comes along once every lifetime like Elvis, The Beatles and Jackson

Definitely Kylie and Britney. Gaga might be in maybe 5-10 years and to a lesser extent Katy Perry. Nobody can ever top Madonna though!

I feel like Britney and Xtina are the principal contenders. They've both had their respective career slumps ( Christina went through hers from 2008 to 2011, Britney is still kind of going through hers, I believe), but their careers are admirable for pop's strandards. They've both been influencial, they've both been brave in terms of their image and they've both been massively successful. Even Madonna herself partly gave them an access to the "throne" when she performed with them at the VMA's in 2003

Kylie without a shadow of a doubt...but as others have suggested, Madge won't give up her 'title' any time soon...in my view.

Kylie without question. Her longevity and over 100million record sales is without question. She was also the first one to be recognised as the "Princess Of Pop" long before the media started throwing that title at anybody with a pair of boobs and who's hit the top 10 more than once.
She was also recognised with Madonna as 2 sides of the same coin. Madonna being the dark side of pop, and Kylie being the light.

Think most of them are getting a little old to be considered as Princesses now aren't they.Madonna 53 .Getting into Camilla territory who is refered to as a 'consort' to the Prince of Wales.Madonna the 'Consort of pop' doesn't sound right really does it though
How about the 'Duchess of pop'

It won't work like an actual (pop) monarchy. Nobody will get promoted.

Madonna will always be seen as the actual Queen of Pop, just as MJ will always be seen as the King of Pop, and to a lesser extent, people will always refer to Britney/Kylie (depending on where you're from) as the Princess of Pop.

Although it's kind of funny, Gaga was never really referred to as a "Princess of Pop", it went straight from zero to hero with "The (New) Queen of Pop(?)".

Funny guy.

By the way, Aretha has always been dubbed "The Queen of Soul" and she is much older than Madonna.

More like the Queen of Rock & Soul or R&B (which is vertially a different genre these days i.e.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contemporary_R%26B )
Never hear Rock & Soul used these days - perhaps because rock & soul have seemed to have drifted further & further apart, but initially elements of both had similar roots.

Not really that amazing, her PR team probably sent out their press sheets calling her that and the media picked up on it (there are obvious comparisons between her and Madonna so it wasn't that huge a stretch of the imagination), in the same way Britney's PR team would have called her the princess of pop in their media packs.

Whether you like her or not

Her success and legacy can not be denied

Plus her voice is average, not on the level of Adele but it's not Cheryl cole. Her acoustic tracks would suprise you.

I don't like the fact that the "princess of pop" term is thrown around so lightly, it makes the title seem so disposable and sort of not even an achievement for female pop singers to be dubbed it. Anyways, I would say the princesses of pop for me are Kylie, Britney & Christina. They have all had great careers and longevity in the industry, especially Kylie and so I think they are the only 3 who deserve it. The rest of them are just getting started and even Rihanna who has been active for 8 years has only really had success for the past 5.

She only became popular when she turned herself into a sl*t. When she stayed true to herself after leaving SAW the sales were not what she was expecting, so she had to go back to skimpy dresses and dancing like a wh*re over her music to push the sales back up...

At least Britney stayed true to herself from the beginning and has never been afraid to show it.
