It depends

Joe mcelderry rushed 2 albums out in the space of 5 months and they were just to touch on him winning Popstar to opera star but the end result were just below average cover albums.

It depends. If an artist is part of the entire process (songwriting and production included), then no, it's not a good choice to rush. If the artist is...well... a puppet, then as long as the label can provide a short break (2 months maybe), then it's not that bad. Of course you can't rush-release too many albums in a row, but in the initial stage of a career, it's a necessary evil

No look at Rihanna her last album was well below par as was the one before so no its never a good idea as they usually tend to sound rushed hollow and like the person just didn't care

It's down to an opinion really

Talk that talk is a hell of a lot better than Loud personally and i feel her sound has developed. Loud was just another pop album. It had no theme or elements to it. Talk that talk does

I agree with this. It's like it tried to be Rated R meets Loud but it ended up with only 3 marketable songs (We Found Love, Where Have You Been, and Talk That Talk). All the other songs are either too slow/ too weird for radio and the rest is filler. There are about 6 out of 14 songs I don't like/play. Her previous 2 albums were brilliant, IMO. I really like all of the Loud album and most of Rated R. At least with the singles flopping, her team might work harder on the next one.

Also Cheryl Cole's 2nd album was definitely a rush release. She was working on her debut for over a year and it was a good little album. The 2nd one came during the malaria and divorce and she admitted most of the songs were leftovers from the first album. I enjoy a few of the songs - Promise This, The Flood, Amnesia, Hummingbird, Better To Lie, and Waiting but can take or leave the rest.
