100 years is a long time for music to still be played. So no, I don't think their music will still be played on radios and on kid's iPods (or whatever music device will be around in 100 years), but the same goes for the other artists you mentioned (Rihanna and Lady Gaga).

But will it mean they are forgotten about completely? Absolutely not. They have become iconic - the same way Elvis and Marylin Manroe are today. And other artists like Gaga will not be mentioned without the Madonna comparison. Madonna paved the way for Gaga like Jackson paved the way for the likes of Justin Timberlake.

Rihanna only has a few more years of shelf-life left, Gaga's novelty is starting to wear off already. Artists these days have no staying power, even Britney's album sales are now nothing like they once were, infact most out there can't even remember any song off her last album.

I think this song will be remembered for centuries:

Thriller has 110 million youtube views, Billie Jean near 70 million. So he's still popular undoubtedly with a lot of people even in this day and age.

Thriller as an album may never be overtaken, at least not in the near future and has its legacy cemented as the best selling of all time. I suspect it will be listened to for years.

I don't think they'll fade. Gaga isn't fading, it's just her promo was messed up (ie picking EOG as a single whilst Judas was still performing, so it cannibalised Judas' sales) (also her tour has sold out globally. She ain't going anywhere, everyone knows who she is, regardless of whether you like her or not, and not everyone has that impact, same for Rihanna, and Adele). Rihanna is fine as long as her music continues to evolve. Make it interesting, i.e Man Down and the subsequent video. She could really bring reggae into the US mainstream if she tried. You can have staying power, but you must plan your career properly. Things like leaks, (as with Beyonce's 4) can wreck an album campaign. Adele had a plan with 21, kept quiet and then started promo in November with RITD. In Britney's case, FF was trend jumping. It was nothing different.

What about for beyonce? Because Beyonce's sales have been stable from her Destiny Fulfilled, B'day, and I am Sasha Fierce. They've all have sold 7 million. So they've been stable but they can't top the commercial successes of her (The) Writings on the Wall, Survivor or Dangerously in Love days. because those were commercially great albums she made. But with the 4 album its gonna be one of her lowest selling albums probably but her Destiny's Child debut album is her lowest selling album though.

Could she be fading then?

I'd like to see RI RI do a reggae album mostly once she goes to back to her artistic abilities. Gaga of course isnt going anywhere as you said anytime soon.
