What's the best / reliable / quality out there at this time.....

There's so many to choose from - it's a puzzle as to where to go...

The Blackberry Playbook looks decent for £160ish.

I bought an Odys Loox which similar to the Arnova G2(same decent chipset) but slightly faster and with 512MB RAM, but only a resistive 4/3 7" screen.

There is one £64 2nd hand on Amazon. It should be no more than 4 months old. Can't go wrong at that price. Works with a 3G dongle, is fine for iPlayer and Netflix. The aluminum front chassis and rugged plastic rear gives it some class too. You have to persevere with it to get it does not come with the Play market by default.. (All new ICS tablets do)

I've yet to find an app I can't run, though I don't play games.
Google maps has a new update so maybe its racing ahead on Android.

I bought an Ainol (no jokes please, I've heard 'em all) Novo Elf, 7 inch Android tablet.

Took delivery of it yesterday from Futeko, a Manchester based importer of Chinese tablets.

I immediately had a problem with the screen not responding properly to touch, so I posted it straight back & sent them an e-mail explaining the problem.

Anyway, the problem was being caused by the charger, as I was trying to use it while it was on charge, & Futeko have told me that they have found the exact cause and will return the machine to me with a different charger.

The machine is very well specced for £117.99 and comes with Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 & full Android Market (Google Play) access.

I've have read many very positive reviews of this tablet and seen a fair few Youtube vids and it looks fast and slick.

When mine is returned I will give a full and frank review on here.

You get what you pay for sadly. I recntly took back the cheap Arnova tablet I bought for my grandson and just exchanged it for the iPad. The Arnova screen was unresponsive, the wi-fi browsing slow, the interface fiddly and hard work etc etc. Avoid those.

Mine is fine at half the cost of that Arnova.
Irrelevent but the CPU and GPU actually makes it faster than iPad 1.

I've also spent £11 on it to upgrade the memory to 36GB.
Android market was not native but a web search very quickly fixed that.

I obviously do my main stuff on my laptop, use Opera Mini which is almost instant web browsing.
And Opera Mobile has also become my number 2 browser.

Skip the above/mine, I've just noticed via hotukdeals that ebuyer on ebay have the Sumvision Cyclone Astro at £80 deld.

The touch screen is much better than mine, thinks has Android market built in, the CPU is just as fast and it also has HDMI. The only negative might be more plastic and only a 16/9 800 X 480 screen.
It probably does not have ICS yet, but this could be a blessing.

Its an all rounder unlike mine. (Its a ARM Cortex A8 and above CPU that usually ensures any cheap tablet is not junk)
Its certainly the best I've seen at this price level.

Troll much?

For £115 or so you can get this on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/NATPC-M009S-...dp/B006M07X34/

161 reviews and 4.5 stars out of 5 - no personal experience of the marketplace seller (it doesn't ship from Amazon directly) or the product however.

I recently got the teclast p76ti for £90ish delivered off Amazon

Works fine and does the job.

The only snag I found was that I couldn't find screen protectors that are the right size for it. Had to buy ones that were too big and trim them down - but no biggie

No Flash though, so no good to me personally.

Android offers tonnes of freedom too, so many custom versions.

Yes and no - you can get a tablet with similar specs to an iPad for less money - you are paying for the name on an Apple device.

And if you know what you are looking for It is possible to pick up some real bargains as long as you research well and are not bothered about the brand name.

I’ve just bought an Ainol Elf for £110 which has a lot of positive reviews around the net and from what has been said would be ideal for most people that are just looking for basic features.

Does it have to be 7". £130 buys you a refurbished Advent Vega. They work better with a custom ROM but its not hard to upgrade.

People seem to recommend it no matter what! LOL

It would be like on a car forum and recommending a Mercedes no matter what the op had asked about!

The iPad is a fine tablet but not everyone can afford one or wants one. I’ve an iPhone so have no desire to have an iPad as well – too similar.

If you can cope with the name the Ainol Paladin gets good reviews and has Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and can be had for around £80
