Jessica Taking Credit For Her Version Of Sweet Dreams
Master Ozzy
29-03-2012
I've just watched tonights show (UK pace) and was shocked at Jessica's performance. She did a slowed down version of Beyonce's Sweet Dreams. During the VT before hand, the guys mentoring her this week praised her for slowing the song down. After the performance, the judges said they loved what she did with the song and Jennifer told her "If I was Beyonce and watching this, I would be considering doing this version at my next concert". Jessica just stood there and didn't say a word, when the fact is, that is Beyonce's version she performed!! Beyonce did it at her Las Vegas concert a couple of years ago, and Jennifer and the people who pick the songs obviously watched the DVD and decided to copy it. Can't believe Jessica just stood there and took credit for slowing it down. Here's Beyonce performing it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oodecnyzohU

didn't watch the link but I'll take your word for it!

this is incredibly annoying, but I suppose there's not really much jessica can do once the lie has started, if anything it makes Jlo look a tool for not knowing that was beyonces version, or at least suspecting it. I do think this gives an unfair advantage to contestants though - making them look creative or different and is a good indication for who they want to win if they have gone to this effort for them.

(idea stealers will lose out in the long run... oh hang on... what's this about the new battle royale film that everyone's going crazy over?!!)

OP, I think you kind of missed the point. Jessica did NOT claim the credit for slowing it down. In fact the opposite is the case. To spend so much time gushing about Beyonce as her musical idol and to then sing a song not originally by Beyonce but but in her style is enough of a nod to the Great One, surely. On stage, in the moment, was not the time to be debating the finer points with the panel, if you need to blame someone, blame J Lo.

I disagree. 'Sweet Dreams' is an up tempo song and Beyonce has performed it in the past up tempo, but she also does a slowed down version of it. The version Jessica performed was the slowed down version. When J Lo was making her comments, Jessica could have stepped up and just said that Beyonce has actually performed it that way before. But she didn't...she said nothing. J Lo maybe should have known that Beyonce had performed the track this way, but then again, I'm sure she doesn't know every single track and performance an artist has done. Jessica could have said something though, but instead she just took complete credit for slowing the track down.

JLO and Stevie Nicks didn't know Beyonce had performed a slower version. Shoot them lol. It was an easy mistake to make. They know the version that was released as a single. Not everyone follows every single Beyonce performance.

This^.
You'd think Jimmy would have piped up if it was that well-known, I'm not a massive fan of Jessica but I don't see how she could have put JLo right without making her look stooopid

But Jessica knew that Beyonce had performed it before. Jessica's and Beyonce's performances are literally identical (except Jessica obviously can't sing as well as Beyonce!)! She must have watched it a number of times before she performed it. She just stood there and took credit for slowing the song down.

Not at all. What did you expect her to do? I cant think of a single instance in any such show that a contestant has corrected a judge there and then in these circumstances, and there have been many examples/opportunities over the years. She just wanted her critique and to get off stage, she had already paid enough homage to Beyonce.
