Not sure, Benjamini.

But I think they were all from the standard middle class background that reflected then (and still does pretty much now) the profile of tennis in the UK.

Just found this priceless 9 minute pathe news clip about Truman.

Initially, it looks like ladies from the local club playing in a mixer.

But the more I watched it, I began to appreciate the strokes.

The backhands look a bit limited although that's how the were played back then - certainly no 2 handers.

The serving, forehands (although flat not topspin) and volleys and overheads in mechanical terms are hardly any different.

Wonderful stuff.

(Mortimer and Jones are in the last shot);

Judging from this start, Nole's got an uphill struggle ahead of him today PP

Really want him to get the 4 in a row. What a remarkable achievement that would be, especially with the men's game as strong as it is at the moment.

Never mind about the odds. Just checked and Nadal is a big favourite.

I want this to be his Grand Slam year. But this isn't a good start. Nole needs to fight back - start winning back points, like he did with Tsonga.

It's kinda early days, things can change drastically over 5 sets.

Although as a Rafa fan I'm hoping for a different record

I had to stop watching the Wimbledon final last year 'cos I got too nervous!

Good comeback from Nole! Would like to see him move in more often.

Same, and Djokovic won that one! My mum got p*ssed off at me constantly turning over BBC to ITV in my nervousness. Not least, because like the most of DS (it seems) she's a Rafa fan.

I love both players but I really want Djokovic to be the holder of all 4 slams.
