Who did not see this coming? Surely he should have.

I do feel a bit sorry for the guy, but I don't really know if he has much right to complain. Sure, he wasn't given the additional oppurtunities some of the other winners and major contestants receieved, but he still was given the prizes advertised for the show, and was probably a bit presumptive to ever assume it would lead to more, especially considering the shock nature of his victory.

A bit cruel of Simon to come out and say "he wasn't one of our best".

Feel sorry for Jai, but I don't think anyone expected him to make it big.

I knew he wasn't going to make it from the minute he won when Amanda said 'Awwh I wanted Ronan to win' (whos not doing much either) - Simon should not have said what he said though, childish, shallow and pathetic, does he even discuss a career path with winners?!

He released an album? :P

Such is the nature of popular entertainment nowadays.

He was last years winner, they have moved on and are picking this years winner.

And so have the audience! - Everything is a fad now and especially with teens and pop music.

He's not a teen and he didn't do pop.

He got the maximum out of the show that his talent allowed. He should be grateful.

The irony is Ronan Parke didn't do that much better. Amanda Holden was a huge fan, he came second. His album didn't do that well, got to 22 but dropped out soon after, and his single didn't even chart inside the top 100! The worst ever success rate for a reality tv talent show final? Probably.

Still, he (Jay) gave it his best shot. He tried his best. Everyone knows Simon Cowell is like the devil but with nicer teeth.

He was never going to do well as a recording artist - they didn't exactly jump at the chance to sign him in the first place and he ended up on Sony CMG which is a catalogue label. Amanda might have liked him but it's worth remembering that Ronan didn't do much either. Not entirely sure why Sony went for either of them in the end.

I agree. I think the public may be going off talent show winners in general.

There was something creepy about Ronan even though he was a child. Simon had this idea he wanted to turn him in to the UK's Justin Bieber but the public weren't biting (thank goodness)!

I don't think winning does guarantee anything. Previous shows of these genres have seen runner ups do better than winners.

Also, these shows have been running for a number of years so we have all seen some really talented people. Hence I suspect that you have to **really** stand out to make a good career out of it afterwards.

I think had neither been signed there would have been questions asked why ("What have you got against them? Everyone else is signed up!" etc). Simon Cowell can't win in this situation.

That's why I think singers shouldn't be included in BGT. They have the X Factor for singers.

But I'm pleased everyone seems to agree that this isn't surprising and there is no-one at fault, except those that expected that when you win a talent competition like this your prize is a successful recording career. It isn't.

Why should he do that? This isnt X factor, the winner isnt guarenteed a record deal. The prize is 100,000 and a performance at the Royal Variety. Simon doesnt have to sign anyone if he doesnt want to...it's not his job to plan Jai's career path. Jai did pretty well out of the show. Although I do think what Amanda said was rude, but I never had a high opinion of her to start with.

Could it just possibly be, (and perish the thought), that Britain doesn't have talent?

I agree, no talent show winners have never been a massive success.

I could not wait until shows like the X Factor and BGT were on but even the funny acts are not even funny any more. I tried watching BGT last Saturday but its just boring and the same old, same old rubbish.

America has loads of talent shows including the voice, sing off, duets (coming later 2012), x factor, american idol, agt, so you think you can dance and so many more. What I am trying to say is that we need a break.

Just because he hasn't sold records doesn't mean that he doesn't have talent.

Indeed. But I think even the contestants get confused at times. They seem to think if they win and they're a singer they'll be treated like an XF winner. Not at all. In fact Syco are making a rod for their own back by even signing them - that's where they're going wrong if anything.

Prize money, Royal Variety, job done. No record contract.

Winning or making the finals gives the contestants a stepping stone to fame and fortune but it's not guaranteed and it's what they do with it afterwards that counts.

And I'm sure that thought's a great comfort to him, when he's lying in bed every night wondering where it all went wrong.

But it didn't go wrong.

He won. He got the prize money. He appeared in front of H. M. The Queen.

As a bonus he was signed up and released an album.

If he is disappointed by any further expectations that's his fault.

I've said this a few times on here, but I really, really like Jai. I like his singing voice, the style of songs he sings and he comes across as such a lovely guy.

I think the reason why he's been dropped is because he hardly had any promotion for his album and Simon Cowell never wanted him to win. You only need to remember on how the series ended followed by the ITV2 programme. Amanda Holden said she wanted Ronan to win, Simon didn't look happy and it was frequently referred to that the runner ups on these talent shows go on to do really well. The focus should have been on Jai, not on the runner up. It looks like that the article that was posted on the Internet, (or wherever it originally came from), was actually pretty accurate, even though the one who posted it admitted that the suspicions he had heard were untrue.

Poor Jai. I feel so sorry for him. I do think that he's genuinely talented and I wish him all the best for the future. He doesn't deserve to be treated like this just because Simon had bigger pound signs in his eyes for Ronan and New Bounce. It's pretty obvious that if Simon doesn't like you or gets bored of you, then you're done for. All he cares about is the big pay cheques.
