I personally, believe that 'Lights On' was a huge hit, ''I keep on moving with the lights on' was heard in clubs everywhere for a distinct period of 6 months, and everyone I know was talking about it!

My questions are: Do you not think you've been overly ambitious as to the tour dates, since Katy is not a huge star, and too have so many dates in areas she hasn't even charted? For example, you've gone to regions such as Phillipines, and realistically I doubt that Katy has that many fans in that region. To go to such places would surely be flushing your money down the drain?

I, like many people, find large scale arena tours quite impersonal - you don't really connect to the artist in the way you do when the crowds are smaller. Some of our UK venues hold up to 3,000 people - which is by no means small, however, we're confident Katy B has the fanbase to sell out venues such as this. Katy likes singing about 'the club', her music is all about decent beats that everyone can dance to - the scale of our arenas really is perfect, and realistic, for our act.
Quote:
Katy did win the NME Award, yes, but she has been nominated for a number of presitious awards such as MOBO awards - one of the best European prizes for Urban influenced music, as well as gaining a Mercury Prize nomination - a huge piece of critical acclaim that draws a huge spotlight on Katy. While she isn't a megastar, she's a widely recognized name that has potential to break out - seemingly like someone like Ellie Goulding, who toured Asia & the US before she had a breakout hit. Of the 72 dates, the majority are in Europe, where she has a fanbase, and the US, where touring, alongside promotion, is the key to success. One of the tours aims is to raise Katy's profile globally, and we feel that it really will achieve this.
Once again, great pitch though. |

Just one question to finish from me, what are your ticket prices for the tour?

This actually raises another question for me - if you are only getting 500-3000 people per venue, how will you generate enough profit to run a full fledged 72 stop tour? Most tours of this size are in large arenas with huge name acts, at least from the ones I have seen.

I, and many others I imagine, will vaguely recognise that from the TalkTalk X Factor sponsorship adverts, but that's the only time I've heard it and I've never thought about who sang it.

Thanks for the question, and to follow on from Amroussi, one of the ways in which an artist can achieve buzz about them and gain new fans is through touring - we feel that a world tour now would establish a new fanbase in areas where she's less widely known, as well as exciting fans in places where she's more popular.
![]() But why would you buy tickets to see an artist you don't know? |

Will Katy herself be able to perform to her best ability on such a large scale tour, which will no doubt tire her quickly? |

I'm just going to bump this question and another:
Will Katy herself be able to perform to her best ability on such a large scale tour, which will no doubt tire her quickly? While Katy hasn't charted in the Phillipines or other areas yet, she's gathering momentum in Europe & the US, and has the potential to expand. While a 72 date tour is slightly ambitious, we feel that, given the size of some of our venues, she would have no problems selling them out! Ultimately, while we could have been more cautious with our tour dates, there really is scope for Katy to do well and expand our markets - there's nothing lazy about our plans. Our tour is spaced out accross 6 months, giving her ample time for recuperation, so we feel she'd be on top form throughout. |

Thank you for the response, Gav, but I have one more question. I, for example, would consider myself to be a member of the "internet savvy young adults who are very into Katy's brand of music" group, yet I have no clue who she is. Also, you mentioned that:
What incentive would people who are randomly looking for a good night out have to buy a ticket to such an "acclaimed" world tour for an artist they have no idea exists in advance. Like, when I am looking for something to do on a night, my first idea isn't "let's find tickets to a concert that's tonight!" - especially when this concert is a world tour that might be relatively expensive and already be sold out. Could you maybe touch on this appeal more? Of course, reflecting on what I have just said, we would push for Katy to have publicity in te States, and I believe that she does have worldwide appeal. Although you may not currently be aware of her, I would recommend taking a look at the setlist provided, as there are songs which potentially will be loved by many. |

Another question from me; How are you going to make a profit and afford a 72 date tour with not very high priced tickets and not many people, from an act with not much success in the first place?

Sorry, you seemed to have misinterpreted what I was aiming at with this question. Basicaly, you have stated that Katy has won the MTV Award, but I can see that she has not, was this a mistake in your presentation? Also, out of the 72 dates, 52 dates are not European so this is not the majority, perhaps it would have been wise FOR Europe to be the majority? Once again, great pitch though. ![]() 30 of the dates are in Europe, this is more then any other continent. We put a date in most of the main cities we don't think it would be relevant to add any more in Europe. If we did it would be more of a Europe tour with added dates in other parts of the world. I hope this answers your question Zak!

The task criteria says the following: " With this theme in mind, you should come up with staging (think X-Factor games) for one of the songs on your setlist" and I cannot seem to find this? |

We didn't say it wouldn't be high priced. As said before we believe all the dates will be sold out as the venues are not so big. We would therefore make sure that we set a good price which covers all the costings including promotion and getting a profit, we don't think it would be so expensive.
Thanks for your question! ![]() ![]() Good Luck!
