Good choice, although they never tackled his sexuality until the latter half of S4... should that go for or against him?
You see I was thinking that you would have to exclude Mr. Humphries (You Being Served) and Cissy Meldrum (You Rang M'Lord?) as although they were the first gay characters on prime time British TV, neither of them were out on the show.
And if you're talking Ugly Betty, you can't leave out Marc St. James, however does his character fit the "great" title?
I know it sounds bias, I'll add Glee's Blaine Anderson and Kurt Hummel to the list, and in that same breath Modern Family's Cameron Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett.
Then again, how can we define greatness? Do they have to portray an achievement over adversity (Blaine/Kurt) or do they portray a happy family life (Cam/Mitchell)?
