Sam was really good! It's quite a good first show - can't wait to see Tyler James. Helps that he's quite hot !
It's a good start actually.

Hopefully Adam and Tyler are just as good .

I'd be self concious to drink the things I'd normally drink too, I see what Jase means. I usually get a bit drunked before I leave to make sure I'm not on edge, that's a good way to have a good night don't you think?
Oh don't get me wrong I completely understand what he means and I'm not having a go or anything (apologies if it came across that way Jase ), I just meant he should try not let what people think of his drinks choice affect his enjoyment of the night too much
What do you normally drink? Pink gay juice?

I'm like Gaz, I actually feel more uncomfortable in gay clubs than "straight" clubs.
Ooh I'll needs to try me some of this pink gay juice

I'm not actually sure why I feel that way, but it's just something I've noticed while being at Uni Probably as most of my friends are straight so it's just we usually end up at 'straight' clubs/bars...
I get a bit embarrassed about what I drink as well but after the first one I tend to no longer give a f**k. I've only been to straight clubs so far in my life!
Haha I used to be a bit like that but my female friends who drink manlier drinks than me and joke away soon got me used to it so it doesn't bother me anymore thankfully If you ever go for the first time, be prepared to be like the 'fresh meat'
Just a question to anyone who has been/is at college and/or university, did you join the LGBT society? I'm thinking about doing it when I go but at the same time, I'm not sure that I'll fit in.
I didn't join ours and don't really regret it tbh as it has a reputation for pretty much just being a place where they all look for ONS, which I wasn't too bothered about and also they were all very cliquey and not the type of people who I'd have much in common with
I don't want to be just noticed because of my sexuality, I never want to have being gay as my USP in life, I don't want to be branded of my sexuality. When I came out it was because it had to be done and I couldn't live with it being a secret, but now I am out I want to be known for being me. xD
Pretty much this, couldn't have said it better myself Lukey

Thanks guys for all your responses! It'll be fun going to Uni but I'm also quite worried about becoming really isolated their and that's the only reason that I was considering the LGBT society. I'm worried that if I don't then I'll become isolated and never meet fellow gays but I agree that trying to create it superficially probably isn't going to work. And I don't think I'd fit in become I visited them at the open day and they were all very loud and brass which really isn't me!

Nope, I also never joined mine.

I don't think I'd enjoy it either, much for the same reasons as above. But I suppose they'll be a mix of those people and 'normal' people who are probably thinking like you aswell.

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't watch The Voice

Same. The vast majority of my friends are straight so "straight" bars are always the standard place to go for us.

Ahh I get what you mean! I'm not really sure what your usual drink is, but try not feel too self conscious and just order what you usually would. I've been told I order 'girly' drinks when I'm out and had many dodgy looks from the bar people (most likely because some of my female friends order more 'manly' drinks than me ) but I just kinda shrug it off and laugh about it with my friends! Can't really comment re: dancing as I only usually partake in this when moderately drunk and therefore don't care what others think of me but if you're with friends who've seen your dancing before just go for it

Aww that's horrible stupid people making a fuss over nothing!! Well I hope if you end up going, that no one gives you any hassle
Ended up in a really cool place at first, there was some spoken word, and I met one of the poets, and we had a chat, I showed her one of my pieces, and she liked it, which meant the world to me..

Ended up at a place that did 50s/60s rock and roll which was pretty cool, but some guys tried to start, one even left shouting about 'them dirty gayzzz!!!!'111

It put me on edge the rest of the night!

What do you normally drink? Pink gay juice?

I'm like Gaz, I actually feel more uncomfortable in gay clubs than "straight" clubs.
I tend to drink archers and lemonade, or cocktails, or Malibu and coke, or strawberry and lime cider.

I've actually had plenty of pink gay juices, as you call them lol.

I definitely feel more safe and comfortable in gay place.

I get a bit embarrassed about what I drink as well but after the first one I tend to no longer give a f**k. I've only been to straight clubs so far in my life!
Are you for real? Okay you definitely need a night out at Heaven with me!

Just a question to anyone who has been/is at college and/or university, did you join the LGBT society? I'm thinking about doing it when I go but at the same time, I'm not sure that I'll fit in.
I did initially, but they were more interested in a night out, than political change, I wanted to change the fact that I was at the most homophobic university in the city, they wanted to shag around.

It felt so alien to me. I was talking about marches and sit ins, and they were talking about the village, g-a-y and so on.

Nah, I never joined it.

Only because and I know it probably comes across as patronising/shallow or rude etc etc.

But I don't want to be just noticed because of my sexuality, I never want to have being gay as my USP in life, I don't want to be branded of my sexuality. When I came out it was because it had to be done and I couldn't live with it being a secret, but now I am out I want to be known for being me. xD
Being gay is who I am, without it I wouldn't be me, there's more to me than being gay, but seriously don't play down the role sexuality has. It pervades every aspect of your life, even if it's a bit part...

I don't like that so many people dismiss it as just another part of who they are, but really, who you share your life with is, is SO important...

Peanut Butter cookies anyone?
Ooh me, me, me!

I hate football! And it's the bloody Old Firm today, traffic will be horrendous! Btw has anyone seen Shelter before, I watched it last night and thought it was the best gay film I've ever seen, miles better than Latter Days!

Ah right. Sounds to me that they're really panto damish. There's nothing wrong with being like that but linking this with what I said, it's a bit sad basing your whole personality around your sexuality, of course it does mean something, but I wouldn't like it if my friends just knew me as Jack the bisexual, to them I'm crazy Jack or wee Jack or feisty Jack

That was a long ass talk yesterday, it didn't really get anywhere, I was probing him for a decent reason and all I gt was all these trivial things, if they mattered so much to him, why didn't he bring them up before? So we just agreed to go our own ways a couple of months.

Nothing worse than football bores or even worse the neanderthol neds that attend them

(Not to tar all footie fans the same but I've found a pattern of the above)

It might do you the world of good, bby. <3 I know it isn't the best thing in the world but I'm sure it is a hurdle you can get over.

I love Shelter as well Daz, for the sake of it not basically being a 90 minute stereotyped porno like most gay films.

I'm at a place now where I realise there was nothing wrong with those guys, if anything, it was me that was in the wrong, I should have been getting involved in the n.u.s, not the lgbt society...

Sorry to hear he's been a bit of a douche about things, but, hopefully it's onwards and upwards for you.

Ben Silverstone was so cute in that film.

National Union of Students. They're the ones that get involved in the politics, the lgbt society, literally is just a social thing..

Don't get me wrong, they could have got involved in the politics, but they chose not to...

I have seen Get Real

I went on a LGBT movie run last year after coming out, I think I've seen all the main ones now.

Mysterious Skin was horrible.

I'm sure there would be a legal way to watch it on-line, I'd never encourage illegal activity.

You could torrent it. I don't condone such behaviour or confirm or deny whether I'd do the same obviously but yeah.

Haha! Well, I've been to a gay bar (saying that always makes me want to break out into that Electric Six song; they played that actually in the (straight) club I was in on Monday and all my friends pointed at me. ). From what others of you have been saying; I actually felt pretty comfortable even though it was new to me. It's nice to be able to dance together and have a kiss without anyone batting an eyelid!

Weekend is ok.
I struggled to take it seriously because, after living in Nottingham, I couldn't see past all the huge geographical mistakes
