Anyways, I'm off to kip! Though my annoyance at Shonda and that finale will probably keep me awake

Ooh I've not heard much about Newsies over here, but from those clips and a quick google, my first thought was this is kinda Billy Elliot-esque I know they're different concepts, but with the large company performances etc and significant amount of dance in each, it seems they are quite similar and almost as if Newsies has replaced the BE style on Broadway since its production closed It still looks like it could be good though

If it ain't coming over here, you'll just need to book your summer hols and head over to NY to see it

Haha you've got yourself a gay predator As if you just walked away though did you not end up like bumping into him at some other point during the evening?! Or did he not say anything about it when he was chatting to you afterwards on fb (or are you still avoiding him )?

Oh god, though he apparently there's another guy who's in love/lust with him. xD Yeah I did Well I was walking down some stairs while they stopped when he walked past and they spoke a little. So I cba walking up those stairs again... Erm, we passed each other later that night walking in/out of one of the rooms but I don't think he saw me/I was looking for someone. He was a state though. So meh.

I fb-ed him later that night swell, urgh. I can never be left with a phone while out! I text too many people. Got a reply and chatted briefly yesterday. But I've been to busy (:roll eyes attempting to revise.

I guess it does have some choreographic similarities with Billy Elliot (especially Specs/Ryan Steele's pirouettes.) I've also heard it refered to as a 'Blokey Les Mis'.

The film it's based on is pretty good too... Christian Bale was in it. Not as bad a singer as you'd expect.

Haha well that wouldn't have been awkward at all had you both spotted each other properly and had to make an effort when he was a state

Ahh no way! There's nothing worse than those dreaded 'smart-phone strikes again' moments during/after a night out Haha sure fob it off revision, that's a likely story

Yeah there are certain choreographic similarities but I mean more in a way that this reminds of BE in that even though there appears to be one main/central character in it (e/g Jack in Newsies and Billy in BE), it doesn't detract from the whole company and it still remains more of an ensemble show with the whole company being able to shine (e/g the other Newsies, the four females etc and then the Ballerina's/Miner's/Billy's Family etc in BE), rather than say Wicked where the focus is primarily on Elphaba/Galinda throughout. Not sure whether I've done a good job explaining what I mean there but it makes sense in my head Either way, my comparison to the whole company style of BE is a good thing as some of my favourite parts of BE were numbers like Stars Look Down/Solidarity/Once We Were Kings (which gives me chills everytime!) where the whole company was involved giving them all a chance to shine as it often resulted in quite atmospheric performances

I can kinda see the similarity to Les Mis again for the whole company numbers aspect, but I don't get the Newsies being viewed as 'blokey' in comparison From some of the clips, certain songs are far from blokey Particularly the last half of Seize the Day which reminded me of some of the more peppy numbers from Legally Blonde (and anyone that's seen it will know how camp and hardly 'blokey' at all it is - albeit great FUN )! Again though, any good comparisons people are making to a show like Les Mis can only be a good thing for Newsies Hopefully it'll make its way over here eventually and you'll get a chance to see it!

Don't worry I get your drift.

I think they called it that just because its a predominantly male cast. Which is one of the reasons Bill Pullman's character was replaced and merged with the female love interest.

Hopefully it'll make its way over here eventually and you'll get a chance to see it!
I hope so. Its just been made open ended on Broadway, so we can hope. $7m in its first few weeks, they must be doing something right.

Boo to you!
