This is really good timing for me just finished watching season 1 on Netflix last night so fresh in my memory

Really enjoyed the first season, and having not seen the Danish original I think the US version stands up well.

I should have qualified my statement about no repeat- meaning no repeat for the HD version.

Have you watched Breaking Bad on Netflix, Miles? Another superb show from AMC. I think the first 3 seasons of BB are available on there?

I would not give hope on a CH4HD repeat until you can see the listings into the end of next week. Record the C4+1 showing just in case though.

I don't know how people function with only one PVR. I have three though I could probably manage with just two for 99% of the time.

There's a thing. My DVD Recorder has a built in Freeview tuner. I can record Justified(5 USA) on there. Then have Fringe/Killing on my HD box. That will take care of any 9pm/10pm possible clashes. Never use my DVD recorder for timer recordings. Totally forgot about that

Channel 4 may decide to repeat later in the week. But according to Radio Times that is not the case up to now.

I did see Breaking Bad but before I got Netflix, probably the best TV series I've seen so far, outstanding! I might rewatch on Netflix though

There is a repeat of that Justified episode on Saturday evening?

Lots of repeats of Justified on 5USA(and +1). I'll give the Freeview transmission a go. Just to see what the PQ is like. It's awful on Satellite. Maybe FV has higher bitrates?

Well worth a rewatch. Season 4 is amazing. Get to see that as soon as possible

I'm with LoveFilm. They do a streaming service as well as DVD/BRs through the post. Just plug my lappy into the TV via HDMI cable.

All C5 SD channels are awful although I tend to record any footy or cricket they do from the satellite transmission which seems to be a little better.

Interesting. I used to use LinowSat to get bitrate info etc. But you have to register/upgrade now to get any details. I'm assuming upgrade means pay?

I'll do a Freeview-Satellite comparison with Justified then(record one of the repeats later). See which is better. Or should that be which is the worse??

Epic fail. Just turning the master level so everything is louder than everything else is not fixing the problem. Muddy sound, muddy pictures.

Amazing 2 hours. Episode 20 of Fringe then the Season 2 opener.

WOW. Worth the wait.

Richmond-never expected that. Thought he would be wearing a vest. But no. Doc says paralysed from the waist down. He said the spinal chord had been transected. So irreversible.

Belko- Did is Mum in and then himself. Holder looked semi-distraught at his suicide. Feels guilty about it.

Linden- Thinks Holder is in on the set up. And chasing down Sloane, who is in Mayor Adams pocket. Her boss Lt. Oakes? The tip off to the Sheriff must have come from him surely. The Sheriff knew her rank and name. So Oakes is bent as well. Linden is scared for herself and Jack. Doesn't know who to trust.

Holder- easily my favourite character. Joel Kinnaman is brilliant in this once again. I'm biased here. Don't want him to be a dirty cop. But I took it that Sloane gave him the photoshopped picture. But Holder thought it was Kosher? So he was duped and his so called friend was using him? Linden won't have anything to do with him. And she feared for Jack when he was near him.

Terry-on the phone to Ames I presume. She is very sad and he appears to want nothing to do with her

No Mitch in this ep? Stan struggling without her, but Terry is helping.

Those 40-odd minutes flew by. Wished we had had a double bill like in the States. But never mind. Glad it's back.

And the person photographing Linden when she was spying on Sloane and The Mayor's aide? Is this the killer watching her. Or someone else keeping tabs on her. Just when I thought we were finishing on a big revelation, we get another mystery.

Superb stuff,

PS
No previously on.... recap at the beginning. Jumped straight into the action. Sarah washing her face and hands in the sink. Odd?

Are you talking about the +1 transmission, gomezz?

The HD recording I watched was fine. I listened via headphones. Everyone else had gone to bed so I popped the cans on. No problems with the sound at all. It was DD5.1 as well. The picture quality was good, I would say. Not as good as Fringe on Sky 1 HD. That is the best PQ I have seen for a while on Sky 1. But the Killing on Ch4 HD wasn't too far behind.

That was the CH4 HD transmission. Both sound and pictures were very poor compared to Homeland which indicates a problem with the source material which the broadcaster is unable to compensate for. Had to turn subtitles on to keep track it was so bad.

There is nothing wrong with the show on AMC, and now Barnsleykeith is saying nothing was wrong with what he watched in the UK. How can you be having such a different experience than either Barnsleykeith or myself?

BK was listening on headphones which gives a very different immersive listening experience. I may try to relisten using headphones and also to listen to it in plain stereo or 5.1 stereo (which sorta loses the point of having surround sound on it). As I pointed out the other big US import currently on CH4HD is Homeland which is fine as is almost every other programme I watch across the channels.

I had no problem with the first series, but I had to put the subtitles on.
Sound quality was dreadful.

OK.

I'll see if I can get hold of a 720p version with DD5.1 sound. Problem is some have 5.1 and some have Stereo, depending on who is uploading them. I'll then do a side by side comparison of the UK & US versions. Not at home at the moment, and I haven't relistened to the opener over my 5.1 system.

I remember Ch4 had sound problems last year as well with this show. They switched over from 5.1 to Stereo about half way through the season.

All the 720p web captures are 5.1

I watched the original Danish version so is there any reason to watch the US series. I realise I'd have to get hold of season one if it's worth the watch.

I'll be honest..... No.

Very dissapointed to see the premiere only manage 700k viewers....
I have a feeling it will be moved to maybe 11 or later after a few more episodes
