I think the effects on the family are still being dealt with, admittedly not as much now. I think the emotion is not quite as gut wrenching as the first series, which brought me to tears several times, but we've had Mitch on her quest during the early part of the series and Stan being left to deal with the boys and the fallout from that. I do think Brent Sexton has been brilliant at making Stan a character you can feel sympathy for. Last night for instance when he wanted to try to make amends to Bennet, I could perfectly understand Bennet's reaction but at the same time I was thinking, "Please given him a chance!".

Thought this week's episode was the best of the series so far, and finally my ongoing / half-joking "(X) did it" spiel to the wife actually fitted!

I'm probably still wrong though...

I'm still betting on suicide.

I wouldn't put it past this show.

I caught up with last weeks episode over the weekend. Donnie and Marie was a really good episode.I wish they had spread this out a little longer though. Season One was a bit too much Red Herring based. For a while all the clues pointed to one guy then he was cleared and all the clues pointed to another guy and then he'd be cleared and all subsequent clues would point to yet another guy. This happened with the Janitor, Ames Jr, Bennet, Richmond and probably some that I forget.
This episode had clues pointing to different suspects and the tension came from trying to work out which candidate it was. Although when the balance of evidence started to shift heavily toward Gwen I knew (well 99%) Jamie would be the one to get into the lift.

I really hope that there are no more red herrings and now we just have to wrap up the arrest and probably confession (they always do confess on tv).

I've been watching the 2nd season since it started but haven't commented. I haven't seen the Danish The Killing so clearly things have changed as reported including the killer, but in this version am i right in thinking essentially all it boils down to is Rosie discovering Stan isn't her father, is unhappy with her home life and basically wants to leave Seattle and go travelling, goes to the casino where she works as a maid for her one last goodbye, sees/hears something she shouldn't and gets killed for it? That is basically the nuts and bolts of Rosie and her murder, right?

While i have liked this season, i don't think this season is as good as S1. S1 was fresh, kept me glued and gripped to my tv screens, acting was top-notch and i preferred the dynamic between Linden and Holder more. This season i've only watched to find out who killed Rosie but don't think it's been as good. Also didn't help matters it took at least the first 3/4 episodes of this season for Linden and Holder to get back working together as a team. Now we know Eric is in the frame for her murder all that's left to find out is why she was murdered. I do think these latter episodes of the season are much better than what we were given at the beginning.

Honestly i think if the US The Killing had just been one season long of 24 episodes it would have worked better and not received as much criticism as it did. And it received a lot! Without spoiling did the season finale receive much praise? I really don't understand the need to for this storyline to have been a 2 season show. Is it coming back for a 3rd? I would watch it again, but Joel Killaman makes this show for me as i love his character.

Looking forward to the finale on Wed night.

PS. At one point at the beginning of this season i thought Stans father was responsible for her murder, but what was his reasoning for setting fire to the place that was connected to Beau Soleil? I think it was the place that held the servers for the website or something.

Tonight's episode was supposed to be at 23:10 but it seems to have been rescheduled for 23:40 now.

Absolutely agree, fantastic character and performance, when it's been dragging as it often has, he comes into a scene and makes it worthwhile watching!!

I do agree that Joel Kinnaman makes this show. Mireille Enos, too. Can't believe the Downton Abbey guys got nominated over him at the Emmys.

I came here to mention the ever-changing time slot. I heard that the ratings were suffering in the US, I'm guessing the same is happening over here, too? I mean, the show used to be on at 22:00! The time slot is getting worse and worse.

BIB Exactly! most of this 2nd series has been on at 11.10 after starting off at 10pm plus i have noticed that Channel 4 promoted it when it returned but hardly promoted it since, i take it C4 wont pick up a 3rd series if there is one.

Shameful for Ch4 showing the finale at 11.40pm! The show used to have a regular timeslot of 10pm! Such a ridiculous timeslot for the last episode, but i'm not surprised. If The Killing does get renewed for a 3rd season i doubt very much Ch4 will pick it up.

As for the finale, i thought it was brilliant! I had no idea it was going to go where it went. I thought everything was nailed on Jamie but it turns out it was Terri who killed Rosie, unknowingly however. I liked the way Holder put it, she was at the wrong place and the wrong tome and it was just pure randomness. She didn't know. Such a sad and powerful scene when she confessed. So i guess she realised from the moment they discovered Rosie's body when they dragged the car out of the lake/river what she had done.

As for Sarah i think she's going to take one long holiday while Holder just gets on with the daily grind of the job. Also Jamie's words to Darren rung true, he finally became the kind of Mayor he wanted him to be i.e someone who gets his hands dirty. Him having the meeting with Chief Jackson (and getting her off the police charges) and Ames of all people was very telling. Nice touch including the Rosie video, made it seem like a happy ending of sorts for the Larsens.

It's been a good ride, be nice if it comes back for another season.

On reflection series 1 was good, especially the first three and last three episodes. The episodes in between were plodding, laborious and distracting. And I feel exactly the same about series two. Maybe the series should have been just 10 quality episodes for this particular killing in one series. The finale was very good, particularly the home video montage.

I really enjoyed this show. Yes it was slow in parts, but the fact that it was acted out so well. I did not mind so much that they spread the investigation over 2 years.

Good Acting, Good Setting, Good Soundtrack

Really enjoyed it.

2 years? That's one hell of a murder case! Don't you mean 2 seasons?

ha ha yea, you know what i mean. I am pleased they let it run for 2 seasons before finding out what had happened.

Be good if the show comes back for a reset for a 3rd season.

I've also really enjoyed this series.

I was worried after that ending to the first season, but thought season 2 was actually just as good, if not better.

Almost seemed like Channel 4 might have known that after pushing the air-time back and showing the final episode at 11:40PM

So they get good characters and storyline and then cancel the thing!

I really wish the scriptwriters and the creative minds run the networks, not the advertising people.

Cancelled! Shame. Think AMC took a risk with the show, but in no way surprised.

I've actually recorded the entire 2nd season to watch in one go, which I will do over the next few days, so I would at least hope that everything is resolved.

(I scrolled to the bottom of the thread quickly so i didn't read any spoilers )

Let us know what you think. I imagine it'll be a more pleasurable experience watching all the episodes back to back than having to wait weekly for each slice.
