People complain I'm a hypocrite when I complain about animals being shot, the truth is as long as you're going to eat it I don't see the problem. Shooting animals purely for sport is what makes humanity look bad IMO.
So essentially, you're fine with animal cruelty as long as you can benefit from it?

I think it is kind of hypocritical to say, "eat it and it's fine". With horse racing, they're not bred to be shot, it's just an unfortunate thing that happens sometimes. Also, sometimes, humans take a loooooong holiday to Switzerland.

I've never eaten horse, I'm not French!

I do have issues with things like fox hunting. But maybe I don't care about foxes and just hate the elite?!

I'm a vegetarian. Veganism just seems impossible.

I understand the point you're making. And I know there's suffering involved with most farm animals. But I do think there's a slight difference between dairy cows and animals bred for human entertainment.

P.S. How General Discussion are we?
I do love a good debate.

I think it's one of these subjects that will just never die. I can see both sides.

Abortion eh? Should definitely be abolished

Ha why not!

I know. It's almost as if Synchronised was trying to say something

The thing is they reduced the height of the fences to try and improve safety this year. It actually made it worse as the horses approached the jumps at a much greater pace.
Only one fence was decreased by two inches this year; the rest stayed the same. The main argument now appears to be around Beechers and the height difference between the launch side and the landing side.

*whistles and slowly walks away*

I just got off the phone from my ex who is going back to Spain tomorrow, people don't normally say 'love you very much' to their ex's before they hang up do they? Because I just did.
Are we going to be hearing a tale of a dash to the airport to stop your ex come tomorrow?

Oh, don't get me started.

I don't know about abolished, some abortions should be enforced.

If only Synchronised had ran so far that he wouldn't have been able to race, he'd still be alive.

I thought maybe he'd benefit from the warm-up, but obviously not

The whole affair is pretty embarrasing for McCoy, but I'm sure he's gutted. Gold cup winner n' all..

Someone in my year at school claimed to have three abortions, and then she got pregnant in year 11 and was morally outraged about them.

The worst thing is he didn't die while part of the race. He fell at fence five, got up again without McCoy and ran on until fence 1 where he fell again, this time breaking his leg.

I'd rather not associate myself with the GD board, some horrible people there as I've found out the hard way.
I thought you meant the Eurovision General Discussion Thread - and I was outraged on all of our behalfs for a little while

In my defence, I don't venture outside of here very much !

Loving reading the thread tonight, or am I watching the Parliament channel by mistake?

If you get to debating the upcoming Winsor Report on police reform, do let me know as I'd like to add my tuppence worth

Oh, and in other news - apparently my mother in law is visiting tomorrow afternoon/evening (what joy - I should be sleeping off a night shift *sighs*) so there may be a last minute postponement of the NF Rejects contest until Monday. I'm sure she'd be chuffed to pieces if I suddenly got up and left the room on the pretence of "having to open a contest for some imaginary people"

I just read that. Makes it all the more sad They need a way of reigning these horses in (and it was a stray that kept running into my Shakalakaboomboom at least 3 times which I blame for him falling away)

Oh I pity you. My soon to be mother in law is a complete and utter bitch.

She told me the other day, I was more interested in my friends than my family and that I treat the other half as a slave.

She comes round, repulsed at the sight of a tiny bit of dust saying its gonna harm wee Dylan's health! She is going to get a boot up her arse one day

My Dad has had years of run ins with my Nan (his mother-in-law). I call my maternal Nan, Dragon Nan for 2 reasons - 1. She's a bitch. 2. My Granddad was Welsh.

As a toddler, my Dad told me her name was Nanny Witch so the one time she came over to visit I was all, "Nanny Witch, Nanny Witch!" My Dad craps himself but comes up with, "noooo, you mean which Nanny?" Me: "NO! Nanny Witch!" Nan: "PIG!"

My other Nan I call Alky Nan but she's awesome.

Imaginary people? Heart broken Anne, heartbroken

On the topic of horse racing what got me annoyed is that I looked on the trends on twitter and most the people writing about 'banhorseracing' had one direction or bieber in their name

Theres been horse deaths in the grand national since 1839. Something will probably happen though like making it a flat course race or something silly. Swear that no other country in the world moans or overreacts as much as this one haha

Well I have my limits, my morals consist of not eating anything cute. My parents run a small business of raising pigs and having them sent off to slaughter so they can sell their pork, I don't see anything wrong with that as they are given a happy life, spoiled rotten and slayed humanly and the outcome is delicious!

But as for fox hunting, in my opinion that is in a completely different ball game, any hunting with horses and hounds is just evil IMO.

Are we going to be hearing a tale of a dash to the airport to stop your ex come tomorrow?
Well he'll be coming back again in May, I have a feeling I'll no longer be calling him my 'ex' anymore.

Well, I have no proof to the contrary at this time....

Oh I pity you. My soon to be mother in law is a complete and utter bitch.

Mine loved me til our wedding day, she had a face like a smacked arse the whole day and I've not done a thing right since

I wound her up something rotten when I was pregnant though with lots of unsuitable baby names that we were "considering" (Chardonnay was particularly funny )

I used to tell my parents that when I have kids my daughter will be named 'Petunia' bearing in mind I was about 8 at the time, I used to stamp my feet and throw tantrums if they suggested otherwise.

It took me a while to realise that his name wasn't actually Anzej, maybe that can be his username when he's all grown up and ready to join us when he becomes a hardcore Euro fan like his mum.

Not everyone who supports animal rights is a Justin Bieber fan.

Just because something was seen as okay in 1839, doesn't mean it's okay now. And yeah you're right - but I'm very proud of Britain's record in combating animal rights! Far better than most other countries.

Mine are both heading towards their 80s now. Alky Nan has pretty much lost her mind which is a shame as she's the relative I most take after.

Dragon Nan has Parkinson's. Although we had a pub lunch the other week and she didn't drop a single pea. I was quite proud. Not so proud when she asked for mustard and the waiter asked if she wanted French or English and she replied with: "MUSTARD!" Me: "Naaaan, he asked what type?!"

Well I have my limits, my morals consist of not eating anything cute. My parents run a small business of raising pigs and having them sent off to slaughter so they can sell their pork, I don't see anything wrong with that as they are given a happy life, spoiled rotten and slayed humanly and the outcome is delicious!

Well eating pigs and hunting foxes are both things that make humans happy (the former not so much if you're Muslim or Jew). Also, pigs are cute! But not cute enough to make bacon taste bad.

I just showed everyone at work your post brummy, is that so wrong?
I actively endorse it.

Not everyone who supports animal rights is a Justin Bieber fan.
I'd put him down.
