There are huge amounts of photographers at the olympics - but everytime there's a lingering shot of one on camera, I imagine it to be big bro geek ... is it just me?
And I liked the various shades of snotty green of that Lithuanian heptathletes kit <--- on both counts

I've just had a look at the UEA website and now I've seen that next year they're offering a degree in Geography and International Development w/ Overseas Experience - which would have been perfect for me! Instead I'm just doing (providing I get the grades in 11 days time) Int Dev w/OE. The buggars!

Got my driving test tomorrow.
The fact I'm even there is great so passing is at the moment something I'm not even daring hope happens! I was so cool, calm and collected about it until last night when I suddenly started crying (unusual for me!) about how I "don't want to let anyone down". |

Everyone still hungover from last night?
![]() Well done GB, you're having an amazing games. And to think just a few days ago people were so worried about the lack of golds. We're still waiting for our first medal. Katie Taylor in the women's boxing is our big hope for gold but we have a few good male boxers too, and a good chance of a medal in the sailing tomorrow. |

I had an EPIC day yesterday at the Olympics! The badminton was incredible! I was amongst all the Indian supporters so I ended up being right behind her for the bronze medal! It was packed with Chinese people and they seemed to have really organised chants. Plus it meant that the Chinese national anthem was sung scarily loudly all around us! Also we ended up seeing the women's doubles final which was a bonus and was never mentioned as part of the ticket! That was probably the most exciting one as well.
The organisation of it all was brilliant. Seriously I was astonished by how well everything was run. The volunteers should all be very proud of themselves, they were doing a stellar job and they were everywhere in London. The football at Wembley Stadium and the badminton next door ended at the same time and it was totally packed on the way to the station, I've never seen so many people in my life. And yet they were able to move us unbelievably and I was on the train in less than 20 minutes. I thought I'd be stood there for hours! It really made me wonder if Paris could have pulled it off. I went to the Bastille Day celebrations a few years ago and once it had finished, thousands of people were all heading in the same direction like in London yesterday. I was almost crushed twice and was winded several times in the crowd. We were stood there for over two hours before we finally got into the station and thankfully just about managed to get the last train. I think if the games had gone to Paris empty seats wouldn't have been the major issue of the events. The one criticism I would have is that they went on and on about how Visa was accepted everywhere on site. Use Visa. We are proud to only accept Visa. Visa Visa Visa. I tried to buy a programme and they only accepted cash. There was a merchandise stall adjacent to the programme stand and I asked if I could pay for it by card there instead. He said no because it was run by a different company. This was within the Olympic venue! Also they were going on in the blurb about how their venues are full of healthy food. I guess three pieces of fried chicken with hash browns rather than chips counts as healthy?! ![]() No Olympic Park access for us sadly but a few pictures of the stadium at least and a very nice meal in Westfield's epic posh food court. And I've signed up for that house! It was really, really nice and ticked all the boxes so I went for it today. Even the pans and plates are provided! Now to relax and go abroad. |

Watching the women's marathon just now and seeing the streets of London is making me feel quite homesick.

What a brilliant night - I didn't drink as I had a hideous hangover all day (the kind where you feel so low you'd rather step in front of the bus rather than get on it - mind you, I had been with family and they tend to have that effect). Very proud of all the Brits who did well but especially Jess Ennis, making me well up a bit!
Hope Ireland make it to the medals board soon, Suzy. Good luck 21st. |

I've been a fan of hers for years. I wanted her to win Sports Personality of the Year both times she was up and I dare say I'll want her to win it again this year. Also, as a successful mixed race woman she's the embodiment of a big chunk of Danny Boyle's opening ceremony that was attacked by (surprise, surprise) the Daily Mail and a Tory MP over Twitter. She's a beautiful and polite two fingers up to the lot of them. Same way Mo Farah represents the good immigration can do - except watching his race nearly gave me a heart attack! (I don't really do celebrity - I'll happily fawn over athletes, singers, writers, actors but they have to earn it!) |

There are 3 platforms for the jubilee and we got on the end of a supposedly 'very busy train' - and got a seat. If you get off at West Ham there's a 25 minute walk which is only made better by volunteers. My favourite was a woman who said on a megaphone: 'smile or the sun doesn't come out and lord knows I need a tan before the end of my shift'. Oh, and the food court in Westfield is brilliant - pizza in 5 minutes? I think so. Made even better by seeing our cycling team beat Australia so well in the team pursuit (a massive cheer went up when it happened). |

I'm certainly not suggesting you have to fawn over her.

(I don't really do celebrity - I'll happily fawn over athletes, singers, writers, actors but they have to earn it!) it is a great achievement for her.. mo farah's achievement was incredible.. all the medallists are great achievements.. when watching tomorrow's papers later, all but one of the papers went for jessica's image for the front page.. (one went for the woman's rowing pair) sadly mo's victory was probably too late for the presses..

I went to see the men's hockey a few days ago (front row seas for category C?!) and totally agree. Volunteers - brilliant. Organisation - really good. The Visa thing was incredibly annoying, so much so that in the shop I got 2 of my 3 cards out (both MasterCard) and said - is this good? before giving them cash. The Riverbank Arena, although it looks great on the TV is actually just a big piece of scaffolding which was a bit disconcerting at first but I didn't worry about it when we beat Pakistan 4-1

As for Westfield we had the most incredible jerk pork with an absolutely divine homemade rum punch. If only all food courts were like that! |
