I had an EPIC day yesterday at the Olympics! The badminton was incredible! I was amongst all the Indian supporters so I ended up being right behind her for the bronze medal! It was packed with Chinese people and they seemed to have really organised chants. Plus it meant that the Chinese national anthem was sung scarily loudly all around us! Also we ended up seeing the women's doubles final which was a bonus and was never mentioned as part of the ticket! That was probably the most exciting one as well.
The organisation of it all was brilliant. Seriously I was astonished by how well everything was run. The volunteers should all be very proud of themselves, they were doing a stellar job and they were everywhere in London. The football at Wembley Stadium and the badminton next door ended at the same time and it was totally packed on the way to the station, I've never seen so many people in my life. And yet they were able to move us unbelievably and I was on the train in less than 20 minutes. I thought I'd be stood there for hours! It really made me wonder if Paris could have pulled it off. I went to the Bastille Day celebrations a few years ago and once it had finished, thousands of people were all heading in the same direction like in London yesterday. I was almost crushed twice and was winded several times in the crowd. We were stood there for over two hours before we finally got into the station and thankfully just about managed to get the last train. I think if the games had gone to Paris empty seats wouldn't have been the major issue of the events.
The one criticism I would have is that they went on and on about how Visa was accepted everywhere on site. Use Visa. We are proud to only accept Visa. Visa Visa Visa. I tried to buy a programme and they only accepted cash. There was a merchandise stall adjacent to the programme stand and I asked if I could pay for it by card there instead. He said no because it was run by a different company. This was within the Olympic venue!

The programme was £10 and I only had £9.55 change! Stupid.
Also they were going on in the blurb about how their venues are full of healthy food. I guess three pieces of fried chicken with hash browns rather than chips counts as healthy?!
No Olympic Park access for us sadly but a few pictures of the stadium at least and a very nice meal in Westfield's epic posh food court.
And I've signed up for that house! It was really, really nice and ticked all the boxes so I went for it today. Even the pans and plates are provided! Now to relax and go abroad.
