Can I ice cupcakes with buttercream now if I'm serving them tomorrow?

Making Easter cupcakes for work tomorrow and have made the chocolate cupcakes (the kitchen smells amazing! ) but am not sure whether I can ice them with the chocolate buttercream now or not?

I've always wondered this about buttercream. As it contains butter, which you need to keep in the fridge, i;ve always been too scared to ice and make buttercream the day before and instead always do it on the actual day of serving them.

This buttercream is just made from butter, icing sugar and milk chocolate. I mean sugar is a preservative so if I made it now would it be okay tomorrow or should I make it fresh tomorrow morning?

I tend to ice them and then fridge them. Take them out in the morning and by the time you tuck in they should be up to room temp. Lucky co-workers!
