Protecting Recordings

We have been using the Grundig GUFSDTR500HD High Definition Freesat 500GB Digital TV Recorder for the last few weeks.

One other thing that has been frustrating is that while there is an option to protect the recording, this is something that you have to do manually. With our old Sky+ box, the recordings stayed until you either deleted them or the memory was low and they would auto delete. We would love to find a way to keep the recordings without having to do a manual protect, which will be great for our series links when we're not around.

Any suggestions welcome.

Are you saying the Grundig is deleting recordings willy-nilly like your old Sky+ box did? In which case what exactly is the difference in behaviour you don't like?

We never had this issue with our Sky+ Box. With the Sky+, even if you didn't watch what you had recorded for 2 weeks or longer, the recording would stay and you didn't have to press any 'Protect' button. With the Grundig, you have to press to Protect recordings within 24 hours or they're deleted. Very frustrating.

Really? That sounds very odd behaviour. Does this apply to one off programmes or just to episodes of series in which case there may be a setting to say how many current episodes to keep.

It happens to both types of programmes. Any suggestions, much appreciated.
