Trying to use iPlayer HD - but having troubles
Soundbox

I was hoping that someone here may know how to guide me a little as I am having trouble with iPlayer. I have not used it before but it was easy to navigate - and I wanted to see the last episode of The Tube. I tried the HD to play on my laptop as the standard picture was very fuzzy. What I get is a stalling picture and loads of jumpy frames. I then downloaded the episode but the jumpiness remained. I used 'help' and it said to make sure the 'hardware accelerator' was turned on in 'Flash Player' - which I failed to find. Is 'Flash Player' a red herring?

Failing that I want to get rid of the jerky HD footage and watch the non jerky (but fuzzy) SD version - but I have no option of deleting the HD footage - do I have to watch it to the end?

I hope that I have this question in the right place - sorry if not.

Thank you for any input.

If the "graphics card or chipset" in your laptop are not up to spec Most medium to low cost laptops are like this particularly from about 2 - 3 years ago then you will get what you have got Plus for HD you need a good broadband speed otherwise it will be buffering forever . .

Thanks. The laptop is a 2006 model so that sounds likely. I do have good broadband but downloaded the whole programme to make sure - no joy, as it still hangs up. I will just us the SD version of the show.

The iplayer desktop seems to be a real resource hog, I can play back most formats of HD content without issue, but iplayer does give me problems.

To delete the program without watching it:

You might be better off downloading the "For Windows Media Player" version. Picture quality will be lower, but playback will be smoother. Go to the episode listing, if it's showing the HD version choose watch in SD. Then click on download options and choose "For Windows Media Player". Once it finishes downloading just open the file and it should play
