Does anyone know any sites for guitar tabs? Not only sites that have guitar tabs but sites that teach you how to read them etc.

I started playing the acoustic guitar today and can't find any sites that show you how to read guitar tabs

Any help would be much appreciated and I promise I will remember you all when i'm rich and famous

www.mxtabs.net has tabs and guides

a quick guide.... if it says xx0232 that means

top string (closest to you) : Don't play
next one down : Don't play
next: Play open (ie don't press the string down anywhere)
next: hold down on the second fret (and strike string)
next: hold down on third fret (and strike string)
next: hold down on second fret (and strike string)

That should give you a D Major

xx0232
Code:
5    4   3   2   1

---|---|---|---|---||x     6th String (E) :: Closest To You
---|---|---|---|---||x     5th String (A)
---|---|---|---|---||0     4th String (D)
---|---|---|-!-|---||0     3th String (B)
---|---|-!-|---|---||0     2nd String (G)
---|---|---|-!-|---||0     1st String (e)

! = Press here
0 = Play these strings
x = Don't strum these strings

-or--

The Tab may just have single notes like
Code:
e|----------------|----------------|-----------------------|-----------------|
b|----------------|----------------|-----------------------|-----------------|
g|9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9-|9-9-9-9---9-9-9-|11-11-11-11-11-11-11-11|11\9-9-9---9-9-9-|   x2
d|----------------|----------------|-----------------------|-----------------|
a|----------------|----------------|-----------------------|-----------------|
E|----------------|----------------|-----------------------|-----------------|

11\9 = strike Fret 11 and slide upto Fret 9
With the above, you hold down on Fret 9 on the Third string, and keep hitting one note per number. Then change to Fret 11 and keep hitting.

Tabs very rarely give you the strumming pattern, so it helps to have the music with you, so you can work that out yourself.

Hope that helps
