Lovely day today. I had planned to go and do some shopping but man is coming to fix our fence posts.

Hope we hear some news today.

I think the difficulty is that today there is very little groundbreaking TV and there are too many reality 'stars' who seem to be the ones in the media spotlight. What talent or achievements do they have? I tend to agree with augusta - if John hadn't been involved with Josie, he might have had a good media career - but did he really want it? I think he would have been happy just to share a flat with JJ and one or more of his Oz friends and worked in a bar for a while and actually lived in the UK for a while. He didn't seem to me to be overly ambitious for himself. No bad thing in my opinion.

Oh Marion, I'm sooo on this page with you! I'm afraid in the West anyway the soma tablets are working and the mainstream muzak is assimilating and drowning out in equal measure as politics and mass media become ever more intertwined.

Still one might say it ill behoves us BB fans to moan. This reminds me of a convo I had with tweeter called Uberchav who was one of the Occupy movement (St Pauls, LSE recently). In his spare time he was trolling BBers, because he said they represented everything he despised in society. When I challenged him about the incongruence of someone like him watching BB, he acknowledged it was his one guilty pleasure. So we really weren't that far apart after all . . . even though I've managed to make use of the "corrupt capitalist" system for my benefit, whilst holding to the values that I've always held.

I always saw in John an independence of mind and a willingness to act outside his personal advantage, that made him stand out from the crowd. I'm smiling at what MFers would say if it were ever suggested that John could be a role model....bearing in mind his more glaring faults. But as regards to the other, it's nice to realise that others also saw that quality in him and were not just attracted by the fit innit guy!

I was the same...I listened to teachers and subjects i liked and switched off others.......

my worst was cookery...cos the teacher was so fussy....I saw the need for hygiene...but some of the other bits of fussing seemed so unnecessary.... this could be why I dont like cooking much!!

BIB...it is quite scary isnt it...how biddable the young seem.....the policy of divide and rule has worked a bit too well.......or maybe we are just due a bit of a shake up?

goodness knows what will happen in the next few years with the euro...and young peoples unemployment?

Evening JJAT .....so Melbourne had a bit of a labyrinth moment ie earthquake good to know it wasnt too serious a one ......well done Rooney just when I had switched my allegiance to Martin Shaw ...Apollo cat aka brownlegs prefers the football too he is watching the ball sat right up against the flat screen somehow I dont think he will catch the ball though...cooking I love making homemade cakes especially when they look like erupted volcanoes ...

I didn't realise this; I know that some random person tweeted that they were in California and could swear that they saw that John James bloke from BB.


When there was that earthquake in New Zealand (last year?) I looked up information to see how many they have in that area. They are prone to more than you'd think.

Can't believe with all this rain that my neighbour has watered her lawn. Yup! Really strange.

Sad to see that it was the last episode of Silk last night. Hope it comes back.

Any news of John? Unlike most people I'm not keen on LA - too many plastic people. Much prefer San Francisco. If he is in LA, hope he is enjoying it.

and its pouring with rain here....such a contrast to yesterday..


having had a tooth out on monday...im still dosed up on neurofen.....im sure its getting better, but he had to hack my mouth around to get all the root out..and ive got a couple of stitches....to come out next week...

ive finished the 50 shades of Grey trilogy......and can see why it appeals to John James fans so much..... It was written by someone called EL James, so his name is even in the title..!

and even though its definitely graphic!!!! It is at heart an old fashioned love story.....girl falls in love with emotionally stunted rich man......their relationship goes through a whole loads of ups and downs until eventually the girl gets the guy, and manages to break through his emotional barriers to establish a full and loving relationship.....its enough to make anyone go squueeee.....!!!



I think there are similarities between John and the character of Christian......especially the good looking part...and the fact both appear to do exactly what they want to do, without reference to conventions.....and of course the loyalty aspect.....once Christian has fallen for Ana that is it......they belong to each other ...body and soul....a very deep and tradtional love .... ahhhh


i can see why the book starts by quoting Tess of the Durbervilles......




But who on earth is the author EL James....it says she is english, and has worked as a TV exec...and the tone is fairly similar....has she done anything else???
