Barclays ATM Confusion

I needed to take out some cash from the ATM machine at my local High Street, as you do you slot your debit card into the the slot and you have to follow all the instructions and such on screen - but I wanted to check my balance. It says there is £102.00 in my account but only £83.00 there? What do I need to do, shall I wait till next week some how?

There's probably some imminent transaction that's going to reduce the cash available for you to withdraw.

Go to the bank immediately and ask if there is any questionable activity on your account. It happened to me once and it turned out that a sizable amount was held for transactions that I never made.

Because it's Good Friday and with the Easter term with dates being changed which might delay which cash is available then I'm guessing.

There hasn't necessarily been any questionable activity on the account. Part of a page from the Halifax:

Quote:
Your balance is the current gross amount held within your account. Your available balance is the amount you currently have available to spend, taking into account the amount of money in your account, any recent transactions not yet cleared and any planned overdraft. Various circumstances may cause a difference between your balance and available balance. These are explained below...
http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccount...-your-balance/

See the above page for the factors that can affect your available balance.

Got what you all mean now I remember recently paying in a cheque last week for the £102.00 and I guess that was pretty recent, so guessing it wouldn't be added into my account for up to four days.
