Which phone has the better battery life?
I currently have the iPhone 3G and I'm after a phone that has a better battery, I don't want the iPhone 4s as im so over apple.
The phones I'm after are the following Samsung nexus Htc one x Sony (latest one) Nokia lumia I use it mostly for internet and games. The iPhone I have needs charging at least twice a day. I would use the phone at intervals of 2-3 hours for roughly 30 mins and then more or less a couple of hours on a night. Thanks in advance. |

If you're going to hammer a phone with lots of game playing, you really need to look at phones with the biggest battery. I know someone with a Galaxy Note, and the battery in that is massive (like the phone).

Thing about the galaxy note is isn't it quite old now? I'm really after a fairly new and powerful phone, such as the ones I mentioned.

I have a lumia 800 and its battery is great. Usually 2 days...but
I disable the 3G connection. Everything else is on (Wireless, Bluetooth, location etc) I enable the 3G when I need it and then switch back off again. Also, did the same on my old iPhone 4, and it improved the battery no end. Never had a droid phone, so can't comment on that |

That said the Nokia Lumia 900 (out next month) will have DC-HSDPA - the fastest form of 3G yet available in the UK upto 42Mbps with real world speeds around 21Mbps. SO if internet matters to you, that will make a difference. |

Also, you dont have to stick with stock batteries for non-iphones. Battery life can be as much as you want, depending how bulky you want your phone to be.

None of today's smart phones have a good battery life and shame on the phone company's for not putting enough research into different types of longer lasting battery. I have a fairly new Nokia Lumia 800 and if use it to its full potential (texting, surfing the net, using location services etc) im lucky to get 6 to 8 hours continuous use out of it.

I installed the latest software update my Lumia 800 on Wednesday and now it's lasting 2 days with wifi and 3g turned on. I had a Wildfire S previously and if I used it for more than a few texts a day even with everything else switched off it didn't last the day.

My Galaxy Nexus lasts a full day with moderate usage, though heavy usage may require you to charge it in the early evening...I usually turn the brightness down to increase the battery life...so I usually get about a day and a bit...
The phone itself has a pretty large battery and the screen is great for browsing/games....

If you're after something with significantly better battery life than a new iPhone, then you're probably going to struggle. Many comparative reviews I've seen say while the iPhone is not great, it's still among the best of a bad bunch. Frankly, any slim, big screened phone is not going to have particularly lengthy battery life. Tis the nature of the beast. All I could suggest if it's an issue for you, is to either get a phone with a replaceable battery and carry spares, or get whatever you fancy and add a big external battery pack. |

The S2 with the extended battery is a good bet.
Smaller and lower resolution screens should be better comparing like with like on battery size. |

I have a Galaxy Nexus, in fact I got mine a week after they came out. At first the battery was rubbish but since the update to android 4.04 last week it's been great. I get a full day out of it without having to charge it and I use it to send loads of text, browse the internet and stream some radio or watch a little Netflix.
As said, the good thing about non Apple phones is that most can get bigger batteries to make them last even longer. Some phones such as the Galaxy Nexus even have bigger battery options provided by Samsung themselves. |
