Are you a Salt addict?

Myself I have to have salt on chips, but anything else I can do without, I can often be almost finished a meal and then I remember I didn't put any salt on it, doesn't bother me.

My wife and son are a different matter, Everything is covered in salt, even if say cooking something like a piece of chicken or steak or something and they decide just to take a nibble it also has to be covered in salt rather than just eating it

I'm not a salt addict but am a seasoning addict. It could be salt, pepper, vinegar, hot sauce, other spices (5 spice, cumin, paprika, cajun etc.) or generic seasoning salt.

It may not need much but food needs some seasoning.

Exactly. Nearly all food (including a lot of desserts) benefits from seasoning. You don't have to go crazy, but there is a reason 99% of chefs season food.

I'm like this too. I only put salt on chips, roast potatoes and occasionally waffles - proper meals I never put any salt in.

I salt my water when I boil pasta, I also salt potatoes (in most form) but I don't add salt to anything else.

This. Summed it up perfectly

I forgot about soy sauce.
I've i'm having chips from the chinese takeaway i'll get soy sauce on them and will not have salt or vinegar.
Fries are salt only.
Chips, cheese & garlic depends on the quality of the garlic sauce. If it is bland then maybe some salt.

I only really have it on chips.
Someone at my work, everyday has a fry up and smothers it in salt. Makes me feel sick.

I'm on a low salt diet for medical reasons and am astounded by how much salt some people use. TV cooks don't help by saying 'a pinch' and then chuck in a tablespoonfull!

However, salt is necessary to our diet and should not be omitted entirely, just be aware how much salt is already in the food before you start adding more.

I put it on the appropriate things like potatoes but I don't lag it in things that don't need it. My sister used to shock me when she cooked, she'd literally just pour salt in to a stir fry or whatever. You'd see it running like sand.

I must admit though I bought some garrlic salt a few weeks back and OMG I love it. It's gorgeous on chips.

Salt no, I honeslty don't put it in anything.

If you were to ask if I was a sugar addict though that would be an entirely different question. I have such a sweet tooth!

You haven't got to look far for a partner on this! I'm so guilty of it - I adore cracked black pepper too. I do use salt flakes to put directly on my food, fine sea salt added to food during cooking and there's always rock salt at home too. Then there's my pink salt, smoked salt.... I really do have to watch my salt intake so I do try and be good - but no salt would also kill me - can't be doing with that 'lo-salt' it's dreadful IMO.
I do have one wall in my pantry lined with shelves and full of herbs & spices too. My husband reckons we ok to setup a restaurant!

I don't put salt on much but I probably eat tons of it as I eat quite a lot of takeaway food.

I season when needed but not over the top.

A girl I lived with at uni was addicted to salt. Pretty much after every fork full of her meal, she would salt the whole plate again. Her salt pot (clear glass one with white top type) would last a couple days at most before she had to fill it up again.

I tasted her food once and it was horrid, but she loved it.

She also drank about 4 litres of water a day... wonder why!

I might consider myself bad (re:above) but even I don't salt after the initial salting so to speak!

I put a small amount in with the boiling potatoes and that is all. A small carton of table salt lasts me 2 years. Just made some lovely chicken stock from scratch, it smells delightful but not a grain of salt in it.

My younger sister and brother both have sky high blood pressure and are only in their 40s, mine is normal at the moment so I want to prevent that happening to me.

Yes, I would say I am pretty much a salt addict! I usually add it to my meals, as often as I feel it needs it, but never without tasting it first, nothing ruins a meal more than over seasoning, and I love black pepper too! I am a terror for adding and re-adding salt to sautéed mushrooms, they are so bland otherwise!
