I don't know what is wrong with our Humax 9150t. Occasionally when recording programmes like Pointless and Antiques Road Trip, the timer shows that the entire show has been saved, but it cuts out between half way and three quarters of the way through.

We have manually tuned in the channels, so it is not interference from other regions.

It also has problems recording programmes on series link when they are scheduled one after the other, like double episodes of Without A Trace. Usually only the first episode records.

Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do to fix the problem? We have tried reformating the PVR but this doesn't seem to have helped.

Is this still happening since you reformatted?



Others and I have this issue as well. To my knowledge apart from complaining to Humax Digital Support there is nothing you can do about this.

We tried reformatting the PVR a few months ago but unfortunately it has started cutting programmes off again.

You say you have manually tuned but did you delete all the old channels first? My Manual Search instructions are here.

So did it work correctly for some time and then the problem reoccur? If so how long?

Thank you for your replies. We deleted all of the old channels before manually tuning the PVR and after reformatting the last time, we had no problems for about 3 months.

I would try the reformatting process again. If the problem returns in the same time frame or quicker then I would conclude that the hard drive has used up its supply of spare sectors and needs to be replaced.

I have exactly the same problem as newbie91 but it is on my Humax 9300T
The timer shows that the entire show has been saved, but then it either ends abruptly anywhere after 15-20- 25 -30mins playback.
There is no symbols to show a break in recording on the recorded list. It doesn't happen with all shows, there is 32gig of hard drive free.
It also sometimes locks the humax and only a reboot restores to working again.
Will try deleting all the channels tonight.
Can I remove the drive and save the important files, then replace the drive and reformat ?
I realise there are other files that go with each recording, can they be identified?
Could you drop the files back on the drive after the reformat?
Are these standard sata drives?
I am sure all these questions have been asked before so if you can point me to any posts that would do.

No, they are sata drives with modified firmware optimised for PVR use; look for tags like Consumer Electronics (the name of the relevant specification) or AV.

Just a quick update on the 9300T, tried deleting all the channels and the PVR worked great for only a few days, now it has started to cut-off programs again and sometimes show recorded programs on the list but wont allow access to the recording ( if it has recorded)
Looks like I will have to go for the new HD version

I think you should try reformatting (unless you want an excuse to upgrade ).

I do wonder why people come to Forums for advice. riggie describes his problem and is told his proposed solution of deleting channels won't work and he needs to format the drive. He comes back and tells us that deleting channels didn't work and then suggests that he will have to buy a new PVR without trying the suggested remedy of formatting the drive. Why do I bother.

Martin, please don't let the few who can't be bothered to listen, put you off from helping people on here. Yourself, Big Les, Graham Thomson etc all give brilliant advice on here and I for one really appreciate the time and effort you put into solving problems.
