It's not "Oops" and it's not "admit". They stated it as a fact; it's not as if it's a secret.

I have to agree.

All television is manipulated to a certain extent. 'Total honesty and complete transparency' = a pretty boring show. I don't see the need for all the deep analysis it gets on here.

Yes that is the point. Some in my family thought that the Zimmers genuinely were a random group of pensioners trying their luck, rather than an established act with a recording history. Which ever way you look at it, it is deceitful to suggest that it's raw talent.

the zimmers have already been famous before and released music, they should not be on BGT

I remember the Tim Samuels show on BBC that put them together. They also appeared on Jay Leno.

I agree.

I remember them featuring on the BBC news which showed their appearance on Jay Leno with George Clooney. So they've had their chance on both sides of the pond.

But sadly it is the same with every show..I guess The Voice is slightly different as many that go on it are semi-pro etc and they don't hide it as much
Susan Boyle would have pre-auditioned many times and I can't believe the judges were not told to ham it up with shocked faces before..although I guess its possible they genuinly had no idea”

The last time she'd been on TV was in the Michael Barrymore programme where he shamelessly took the p*ss out of her all the way through her song. I doubt they knew that she would perform like that on the live auditions.

Also, the judges are not involved in the pre judging process as far as I can make out. They wouldn't be able to see every act that turned up.

Seriously do you believe that the larger acts all turn up for the auditions.

A lot of the big dance acts send in show reels and then the producers invite them to audition.

When Diversity and Flawless auditioned they were pre selected from a group of dance acts that presented together to the producers.2 Others from that group including Peridot were told to audition the next year.

My son and daughters dance team were pre selected by the producers by way of a showreel, but they did not take up the offer as they were performing abroad at the time of the shows.

Because they might prevent the people they can make the most money from from reaching the final.

Soo true it just sad that the people who have the talent were pushed aside for cheap laughs and money.

Agree, i didnt even find them funny at all( i really hope they are not in the top 3 such a waste for people with "talent".)if they do the same "act" and Simon and Co are in hysterics i will just think it is more manipulation. also i bet he wont buzz as he does respect the "older people"(not that i am saying is a bad thing at all it is nice actually) but he treats them like the children on the show no buzzing allowed even if they are rubbish.

Just watched the Graham Norton performance of theirs someone posted and have to say they were much better on that! The singing was actually pretty good.. they made themselves look silly on BGT by being completely out of time and forgetting the words and not really being in tune. They should've either gone for it with the dancing (understandable if they couldn't), but otherwise stand still and do some moves rather than all jigging around aimlessly.
Sadly it looks like the lead singer died a few years ago (think it said he was about 93 or something) and he sounded pretty good. Seems like they've lost their appeal a bit with this new tactic!

Simon invites acts that he wants to test out on the public and if popular will make sure they end up winning or at least a good place.

They then invite other acts that make s good show but stand no chance of winning and thus interfering with Simon getting a sellable winning act. (most likely a singer)

Anyone else who actually just turns up is seen and vetted by lots of producers before they pick a few to actually get on TV in front of the judges. Most are safe untalented acts that will make the audition shows for them but won't endanger Simon's winning sellable act. A very small number of half decent acts may be selected but if they get too big a vote then Simon (and the judges told what to vote for) will make sure they are removed.

The judges vote is there to keep control and all are told who to vote for and Simon knows the result and so if he can pass it back to the phone vote or not, giving him the result he wanted anyway, but making it look fair as that's what the public voted for.

The whole thing is a complete shame from start to finish and you will see Simon's acts and on of them will win.

Simon makes sure of that by removing any competition long before the final.

No - but they are told what's coming up, and how to react. Remember this series, when (IIRC) Jonathan & Charlotte came on stage, and Simon muttered "oh no, what have we got now" - and they even subtitled it, to make sure we didn't miss his initial disdain & then mock surprise!
