but many were worried that Christian would be a plot device for Syed's storyline. I would argue with hindsight that this was not the case, I mean Amira was way more of a plot device till her last scene ths year. It has very much overall been a lovestory between Chryed and yep it did mostly centre on Syed because it was his character and family that really provided the drama but I also thought Christian view got put across very well e.g. the day of the business awards when he did not attend, James, the wedding etc. Also, 2011-2012 has been more about Christian then Syed in relation to baby drama and even Amira as the sl stop, started according to him.
Anyway, the thread is incredibly old news and I'm sure manyt of you might have read it but was a good read. One poster even looks at the Muslim community reactions prior the sl (Pg. 9- quite controversial).”

For the record, I didn't
want Tamwar to be gay per se, just thought it would be less of a cliche than having a previously "straight" (/Johnny-style finger quote marks) suddenly turn gay when he meets the only gay in the Square
But credit where it's due, they made it very clear that Syed had always been gay but was deep in denial and it was falling in love with Christian that led to him eventually being honest with himself, so I'm happy to admit I got it wrong there. I was right about them being a cute couple though

I was never keen on it either, tbh. In fact I resisted calling them Chryed for a long time, always used their full names or initials. I always thought Chryed sounded like a far-flung planet from Dr Who and pictured "Chryedians" as weird tree-shaped aliens
It was only when I heard Johnny say "Chryed" on that radio interview he did about his dog that I started to warm to the name and began using it
