Nokia 5230 - complete reset?
Planning to get rid of some old gadgets, and want to do a complete reset to factory settings of the Nokia 5230.
I've gone into phone, management, factory settings - but that does not erase the memory, all my messages, emails and contacts are still there. It just seemed to reset the date and remove the wallpaper. I've hunted online and tried the press Green+Red+Camera+Power combination (although I seem to lack the right configuration of fingers to make this easy) and that doesn't work. I've seen the option that gives a dialling option bracketed by hash keys but I can't dial as I've taken the sim card out - I don't want to format the sim card, just the phone. Any suggestions welcomed. Ta. |

There should be an option in Messages somewhere to delete all messages and emails and an option in the Phone Book to delete all contacts.

ramzez - thankyou, that was the number I was trying to think of but if I try and dial it, or send it as a service command, it says I can't because the phone is in offline mode. I'm assuming that's because I took the sim card out - but maybe not?

I should have said that in the Messages Inbox / Outbox etc is an option to Mark All messages. Do that then select Delete. Similarly for contacts in the Phone Book.
(based on my similar 5800 model) |

Don't have email set up on my phone so I can't help further with that ( I use hotmail through Opera).

It's hotmail email on the phone. The headers of 7 emails appear, although the rest of the message is unobtainable. they don't even exist on hotmail itself any more. Can't fathom this at all.
Thankyou for your help, though. |

the three keys reset probably works on the 5230. holding down red, green and camera whilst powering on.

Thanks, flagpole. Done that - but these 7 emails/email headers keep coming back. So did all my contacts and msgs until I manually deleted them, so I seem to have a phone with a mind of its own.....

What if you get rid of the hotmail email set up?

I can't find a way to remove hotmail! It won't let me remove mail server details.

with apologies to Ramzez's post 2, I hadn't spotted the asterisk (duh). Now that I've included that, it's reset the rogue emails, the call log and contacts list, which kept coming back - just not, for some reason the photos in the gallery. Those I can delete manually.
I appreciate the help!! |
