I have a very odd problem concerning TVs since the digital changeover which may or may not be a coincidence.

MY Sony TV will often become unresponsive, on power up it will go to BBC but you cannot do anything else. Three different remote controls and even the controls on the TV itself will not do anything.

After a while it will switch off, a green LED will flash and it will switch on again and work normally.

Now I took this to be a fault with the TV but my mothers very cheap and tacky Acoustic Solutions TV from Argos does the exact same thing

Have you tried a factory reset on the TV?

Also have you looked on the Sony web site to see if there is a software update that might fix the problem.

Finally can you please provide the model number for the TV.

On Sunday my Sony TV did EXACTLY the same thing for the first time.. power off then everything was fine. Thing is, I am in the north east and we have not had changeover yet. I am thinking a software update was to blame. TV has been fine since then.

It might not be the solution but overloaded or bad signals cause freezing.

A cheap attenuator might do the trick though the system info menu on the TV will tell you about the signal levels.

If you post the model number, I'll check the updates for you.
