Havent seen a post for this, but just been announced today that Lady Gaga's European leg for the Born This Way Ball will be visiting mostly stadiums. Only a few dates so far, but:

15th September ---- Aviva Stadium, Dublin
22nd September ---- Stade de France, Paris
29th September ---- Sportpaleis, Antwerp, Belgium

Plus, there's the constant rumour of her performing at Twickenham July/August time.

What do you guys think? Will you be going? Do you think she can sell out these stadiums? And will she just be promoting Born This Way, or will she have extra material to promote by then?

I knew it'd be stadiums here so i'm not going to go. Tickets will be around £75! I know alot of you think that's cheap but I saw the Monster Ball for £27 in golden circle so i'm just gonna watch the youtube videos

Anything above £70 for a stadium ticket is just too much. She will never sell them out. People just haven't got the money. All major tours are selling so slow at the moment. I can't see tickets being cheap though. The set/stage looks like its costing a fortune.

I still never understand how artists sell out the back tiers of stadiums you know right at the back at the top of a big one like Wembley? It's like why would you even purchase a ticket!

I saw Pink in Liverpool and my friend bought the tickets and we were at the very back and although it's quite small it just felt like you weren't there! People were just chatting away around us and she was just a little dot on the stage prancing around!

Apparently the Dublin one is £35. So reckon the rest will be about the same price? Considering I ended up paying £60 for the Monster Ball, I'd say (if it's true) that's pretty good value.

I don't understand this recent obsession with stadiums. I much prefer arenas and even some those are just too big!

Not really a recent obsession - big artists have always been putting on stadium tours. Especially in the 70s and 80s. See Michael Jackson, Queen, Rolling Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen (who still is this year), etc. etc.

I think Lady G has set her sights on breaking Madonna's record for highest grossing tour and that is why she is doing stadiums.

Yeah but what with P!nk doing them, Take That doing them, Madonna doing them. I know they did them a couple of years ago but I personally don't think they suit them at all. The acts that you mentioned are pretty much all rock acts - I think they suit them much more.

Obviously there is a huge demand for these artists but I just feel Arena's a much better venue for these sorts of acts. I hope P!nk goes back to arenas on her next tour... I saw her Funhouse tour and it was fantastic in an arena.

Yeah she is pretty obsessed about trying to break records, strange!

Madonna did stadiums 3 years in to her career, so Lady gaga should do ok. But Madonna's prices are higher than Gaga's, so she will have to do more shows than her. She probably will do more shows if she does want the record. The big question is, will she get it?

I know what you mean about arenas being better. But maybe her enormous castle she seems to have created is too big for an arena? Dunno, just speculating....

£35 is not too bad for the Dublin one. That would cost me £70 for two tickets (not sure how much they are in euros though) and also transport up and maybe a hotel. Has the date of the Dublin show been announced?

Yeah I personally don't like stadiums too, especially for visual artists like Gaga and Madonna. Rock concerts are fine though.

Agree about if it's a very visual concert that arenas are best!

Waited for the Birmingham date to see Madonna, thankfully it happened and because I'm a short arse I said to myself if I couldn't get block A I was going for the best side seats. Got block 11 front row, Small areans are best by far and there was no way I was going to a stadium this time LOL.

very very few artists can pull it off.

Queen are probably the best stadium band ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wihX1KCS-d4 ... i really cant see Gaga getting an entire stadium on their feet

Well it's going to be difficult, especially from the castle theme stage I've seen on reports. I think the concert will be very visual and theatrical. Would be very interesting to see if it works for stadiums. People will be on their feet when she perform her "classic hits" for sure but I can imagine people on the upper tier getting bored when she is churning out her newer stuff theater style.

Since when? Her breaking records gets publicised. Hardly the same as being obsessed.

I saw her Monster Ball tour but I won't be going to this one. She talked way too much and it was all ''I love you little Monsters'' and bah bah this and bah bah that. I think maybe her quick rise to fame went to her head. Everyone looked embarrassed to be honest. It sort of put me off wanting to go and see her again. I want to see her perform songs. Not keep talking about how famous she now is and how much she loves all of us for breathing the same air as her!!

I do like her music though. I just don't rate her live. It reminded me infact of the glastonbury thing were she was booed for talking too much then as well.

We were surrounded by people all in fancy dress.

But oddly it was people who looked way over 35 who filled up the Arena so I wouldn't really stress.

Oh that rhymes a bit!
