The *Grime Music* Appreciation Thread
Nikki E.
09-04-2012
Showing my appreciation for the UK grime scene.

I love listening to grime, and feel it deserves an appreciation thread.

There are many talented artists on the Grime scene.
Including:

Kano;
Donaeo;
Wiley;
Shystie;
Lady Sovereign;
Skepta;
JME;
Tinie Tempah;
Ice Kid;
Sickman;
The Mitchell Brothers;
Professor Green;
Yorkshire Terrierz;
Underground Unit;
Nameless;
(to list just a few).

Grime has grown from it's early days of mostly being a cross between garage and 2-step; and has since grown and expanded (as music often does) borrowing from other music "genres"/types - dance, alternative, hip-hop, dub-step, and jazz, as well!

Grime started in the UK; and, more recently, has reached the US, to be greeted by Lady Liberty, with UK grime artists proving to be popular in New York, in particular.

Grime has also reached an audience from all walks of life - and the same goes for the artists making the music, as well.

Personally, my favourite thing about grime is that often the lyrics are about hard times, and finding the positives during those hard and tough times.

I liked grime from it's beginnings; but as the music has grown over the years, the more I come to love grime.
