I cannot stand Bono or U2 for that matter, but they cannot even be compared with the likes of Oasis. When they go abroad, to mainland Europe, is still an event, people still think they are going to see the biggest band in the world. It's mad. They did have two decades of massive success, a career, they were not just a blip like Oasis. No one would refer to U2 like that 80s or 90s band. They are just U2, for better or worse.
Depeche Mode, that 80s band, could outsell Oasis anyday of the week in Europe and for the UK it's like they do not even exist anymore, critics here need some perspective.”
Just a blip? The thing is, the two first albums were simply incredible... you can't dismiss that and expect them to fade away and they probably never will. They aged too well and the songs still sound great after 15 years. Very few bands can compete with the whole Oasis catalogue, Noel Gallagher took all his biggest inspirations (The Kinks, The Who, The Sex Pistols, The Beatles, The Stone Roses etc.) and made some great songs... even the B-sides were too good. The thing is the music also reached out to alot of people, it was gloomy in Britain and the music related to virtually everyone... "Is it worth the aggravation. To find yourself a job when there's nothing worth working for? It's a crazy situation. But all I need are cigarettes and alcohol".

There's plenty more catchy tunes they produced, the list goes on. You'll find U2s songs are all released at a different time and varied out over the years, Oasis seemed to release them all in a short space of time.
