I don't think she's ever done anything creatively daring or challenging tbh. Her music is always very "safe" sounding imo. Maybe "run the world".

The one where she shakes her ass in the video and does a little strut like she owns the place, then a rapper comes on and does his little rap. She then flashes a smile and tosses her hair around like Tina Turner on acid and some other dancers come on to join in all the fun she's having.

As much as I love beyonce, i have to agree.

That's why i never rate her as highly as the likes of other hugely successful black females like Janet Jackson, Mary J Blige or Tina Turner.

I'm a big beyonce fan too, it annoys me how 4 albums in she still hasn't really shown any creative growth. I hope she'll experiment more next time around.

Yeah it was very creative the way she shook her tush to the beat of the song wasn't it?

If I were a boy.

Lyrically it's quite deep and emotional, it really touches on sexual inequality in society and how it can affect a relationship. Also, you never get people singing about how they wish they were the other gender. It's vocally a deceptively challenging song to sing.

Other than that.. well... Halo because of the high pitched 'ooooo' sounding weird on first listen, almost jarring, but that's it. Beyonce stays in her comfort zone.

LMAO!! Well I cant say she even makes her own songs. Just because you sing something does'nt mean you created it.

The subject the songwriter of 'IIWAB' tackled is not new. Many females have done similar songs before, notably Ciara with 'Like A Boy' and even Lil Kim with a song too explicit to mention its title here The vocals on 'Halo' weren't groundbreaking either

I don't think Beyonce has done anything creative tbh. Maybe 'RTW' is not as safe as some of her other tracks, but it still isn't risky or innovative, since she just took a 3-year old beat and started yelling over it.

In her defense, however, I don't think her purpose is to be creative. Maybe some of her peers and over-zealous fans have made her believe she's an innovative leader, but her place in the industry is to deliver polished vocal performances, look good on stage and move around enough to look energetic.

Musically Beyoncé has never been creative, as a performer she pushes the envelope with the sheer effort she puts in but even then she's not brought anything new to the table.

She plays it very safe and has a rigid formula that works for her and she sticks to it. But then that's probably key to her success.

I think it was 'Rule The World'. It was so fresh that people just didn't get it. Shame.

'If I Were A Boy' wasn't even Beyonce's song and there was a huge fight over the royalties to it with claims Beyonce even stole it and claimed lyrical rights. Not the first time she has been accused of stealing songs and passing them off as her own work either.

I reckon Single Ladies, to me it sounds fresh innovative, and is distinguishable from other tracks.

Also Single Ladies was written by Beyonce.

It sounds like it was recorded in front of a bandit/fruit machine

Couldn't agree more- the original instrumental is better. I thought she did more innovative stuff while she was in Destiny's Child.

Im sorry but Run the world was a big risk to take. I don't know why people are claiming to be fans, because if they were they would accept that Run the world was a massive risk for Beyonce. Albeit it didn't pay off, but it was still a big risk.

Also, all of '4' was a big risk creatively in my opinion. It wasn't as commercial as her previous 3 albums.

That doesn't say much

Maybe she'll take more risks for the next album. 'RTW' was by no means a risk, though, not even for her standards.

when Crazy In Love came out I remember everyone being like "wow" because that whole retro, brass-y, sound wasnt in the charts at the time.

In my opinion she's extremely creative. None of her music sounds like anything else out there. Let me pick a random track of hers, like Green Light for example...nothing else out there sounds like that. Another one, Countdown...again nothing else out there sounds like that. Irreplaceable...again, nothing else out there sounds like it. She's not like other artists where they'll release a song and it sounds so familiar to tracks by other artists. She does what she wants to do. She could easily have surcummed to pressure and gone down the pop route, but she didn't. I think '4' was very, very creative and she took a huge risk with it. In my opinion, Beyonce isn't given enough credit.
