The video seriously pissed off some of their fans in South or Central america who had adopted the song as an anti-government statement. Consequently they weren't too amused to see Fred and the boys camping it up.

Usher - Isn't he partially responsible for creating the monster known as JB, if so he should be imprisoned for crimes against music

The X Factor.

Also i can really see why Beyonce pushes her singles out what with downloads and that the hype goes after a while and some people simply wont buy singles when they own the single on the album. Katy perry is todays standard i think.

Not to mention other b-sides like Fade Away, Acquiesce, Half the World Away, Let's All Make Believe etc.

But then again being a great b-side band is one of the things I love most about Oasis.

The Strickland album was a masterpiece.Just a shame he didn't do something similar instead of reverting back to rap, which wasn't a patch on what was one of the best selling albums of 2010.Commercially, he shot himself in both legs.
Sure his 3rd album will sell well in its first week but I can guarantee it won't sell half of what 'Strickland Banks' did.”

It's not about record sales, it's about being real and true to yourself artistically; something which most people on this forum don't seem to understand.

Katy and Beyonce both release remixes to help their later singles sell well. For example Beyonce had a Kanye West remix of Ego, a Lady Gaga remix of Video Phone, a J Cole remix of Party and so on. Infact, that is what pop artists have been doing to get their later singles to sell well for 20+ years lol. It encourages people who already have the album to buy singles seperately still.

The biggest mistake would be the labels and retailers not getting into sorting out downloads quickly enough.

Giving Kylie a bloody recording contract!

And before you jump on me, I have as much right not to like her as you have to like her.

Christina Aguilera being allowed to release Bionic, most disappointing and incoherent album she could have possibly been allowed to release.

Not giving Britney an extra 6 months to prepare for Femme Fatale so she could properly release and promote it. She improved so much with practice performing during the campaign, it's just a shame she wasn't fighting fit when it first launched.

Noone standing up to Gaga and making her sort out BTW so it was as good an album as The Fame Monster.

Journey allowing Glee to go anywhere near Don't Stop Believing.

Cher Lloyd releasing Swagger Jagger as her debut single. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of her music, but there are much better tracks (Superhero,Want U Back) that could have been released. Also, I think she made a big mistake not putting Love Me For Me on the album.

Cheryl Cole EVER releasing The Flood.I am a massive Cheryl fan and that is her weakest song on the album. She should have gone for something like Better To Lie,Yeah Yeah or Everyone.

I would say 2 things....

How Britney's Blackout was put out there. They released 3 singles, with that album (just like Rihanna does) they needed to released around 6-7 singles to keep the ball rolling. Also her promotion for FF has been awful.

And the next... Ashanti. Why did she disappear?

Yes, they could have easily have sorted something out with the ISP's from the beginning - but they weren't interested / weren't willing to pay out to the ISP's / lacked foresight in the direction music in the 'digital era' was going / thought they could control it, like they took over control of the content of commercial radio / TV etc. http://www.bombhiphop.com/newbomb/bo...inernotes.html

I bet they wish they had bought into the ISP's in some way now.To late now as the ISP's have got control now & the Major labels will have to pay heavily for the to get back control of the music industry. They probably haven't got the finances to do anything now.Anybody hear about Sony's recent loss http://uk.news.yahoo.com/sony-sees-r...075848736.html

I don't know. I loved Ashanti. She used to be everywhere.

With Madonna, I always thought 4 Minutes would've been so much better in 2005, just as the Timbaland craze was about to take off, and that Hung Up would've been so much better in 2008 when the dance craze was in full fling.

Cowell making Will record The Long and Winding Road and then giving Gareth the lead vocal. When they originally sang it (in Sport Relief I believe) Will had lead vocal and it was so much better.

simon really didn't like will, so that was an obvious inevitability. he really liked gareth though, until he started flopping.

Getting the timing wrong between album releases.

Leave it too long and you risk being forgotten (or at least it takes the gloss off the earlier success), e.g. Stone Roses. (Getting into a legal dispute with the record comapany during a critical phase of your career could also count as a Mistake).

Leaving not enough time between releases increases the chances of the record being substandard and/ or people getting fed up of you, e.g. Gaga (??).
