Its interesting that you should say this as the person who sent the newsletter out actually wrote Hit Me Baby. I, like others on that board. immediately thought of the Britney Spears song. We shall soon find out.
Loving your work too Zip.

So which song is it to be then - the rhythmic or the ridiculous? And by the way, where are people getting their information from?

Tabby - Addicted To Love
Voices With Soul - Amazing Grace
Cassie - Say A Little Prayer
Roweta - Somewhere Over The Rainbow
2 To Go - Ive Had The Time Of My Life
Steve - Smile
G4 - Hit Me Baby One More Time

Some of the choices left me speechless and I am now convinced that Louis is working for Simon Cowell if this turns out to be true.
It will be interesting to compare anyway when the songchoices are revealed tonight.”

Well done! It appears that you are right!

......I remember on Fame Academy and some weeks some of the students were given really crap songs - after a few complaints and refusals to perform they were swiftly changed, so what are G4 thinking about to have even agreed to sing this apology for a song. Louis Walsh is responsible for them about to lose every bit of credibility they had - I wish they would walk away now before its too late

You don't know, maybe they've agreed to do it because it is a completely different version that will blow everyone away..........nah, second thoughts, can't see that, I reckon they are going to be crap tomorrow night. They'll be in the bottom two with 2toGo. Louis has done to ensure 2 to go are out this week as Sharon and Simon will not get rid of G4, that'll teach Peter to moan about doing ballads

OMG did anyone just hear Steve singing 'Smile'? He was amazing!

Is Louie trying to sabotage G4? I cant think of a worse track for them to sing. I still hope that 2 To Go go tomorrow, but more crap choices like this and it'll soon be "bye, bye G4". Pity, I thought they had potential.

I'm now gearing more towards Tabby, Rowetta and Cassie.

When I read this thread earlier, I honestly thought the G4 doing Britney was a joke.

Wtf is Louis on??? This weeks songs are suicide for his groups.

Hmmm...I don't know if AMAZING describes it...sounded a bit off at the start but improved as he went on. What struck me, however, is that the one thing he didn't seem to be able to do with this song was SMILE - when normally he can't avoid a wide grin whatever the song (described by another poster as a Muttley impression). I will be interested to see whether Muttley returns tonight.

LOL - G4 do Britney - should be hilarious viewing.

And WTF is with Louis and constantly choosing hits from the 80s for 2 To Go?

And someone should tell Sharon that Cassie just cannot handle big numbers like "Say A Little Prayer" - it'll be as bad as last week's slaughter of "Without You"

That's your view Foureyes but the vast majority disagree, i.e. the judges, audience, posters on this forum and of course the GBP voters. Cassie can certainly handle the big songs and that's why she is getting to sing them week after week.

Hmm - couldn't disagree more. She has a nice voice, but she lacks the maturity to handle big numbers. I really don't know what people saw in last week's performance - it was truly awful.

.....but you do know it`s only a matter of time before Simon Cowell is going to make the (quite valid) point that here is a young l7 year girl being made to look and sound like a 30 year old - songs too old for her. She needs to be given edgy, trendy songs with image to match otherwise the phrase "one trick pony" applies.

Plus doesnt she seem to be doing all the same songs Michelle did in PI2?

I know for a fact Michelle sang 'Say A Little Prayer' (it was dire) and I'm sure she did 'Without You' as well.

Maybe the fact they use the same songs in a lot of reality shows and dont seem to use anything vaguely up to date is to do with the legal side of song performances.

Well as I said before, that's your view, and you are entitled to it. Of course it wasn't the Maria Carey or Harry Nielson studio version, but Cassie was singing a chopped-down snippet live. OK you weren't impressed but I really don't know how you could describe her performance as "truly awful". She does have a lot of maturity in her voice and in her performance, or she would not have made it this far. Clearly we must agree to differ.

I'd actually like to hear what G4 would make of 'Re-Offender'.

I don't think that's right...her three songs so far are actually pretty different. And Cassie is not a "pop princess" nor is she an "edgy, trendy" singer (Alex Parks ??)- so it would be wrong to force her into another genre just because she is young. Do you have to be 30 to sing soul ?? (viz Joss Stone for example).

I don't remember Michelle doing either of these at all. I think it may have been Kim?

Did a quick search on the PI forum and she did them both the same week.
It was Judges Choice week (the week Sam went out)

I remember hearing (though I can't remember on what) that there are a limited number of songs that can be performed for copyright reasons and that some artist's songs are never performed because the rights to their material is too expensive. I remember Mariah Carey being among that list of artists. The only reason "Without You" is performed is because it's not a Mariah Carey original and the rights are nothing to do with her publishers.

BTW, I could have thrown a brick at the TV last week when Kate Thornton said "Originally recorded by Harry Nillson but made famous by Mariah Carey....." Yeah cos no one had heard of the song before Mariah murdered it.
