Can anyone tell me the correct pronunciation of his surname. Is it;

Bowie or Bowie?

Thanks.

It's supposed to be pronounced to rhyme with zoe but I always pronounce it the other way.

Bow - bow and arrow - ie.

It annoys me when people rhyme the 'bow' with 'pow'.

Bowie himself says his name to rhyme with Bow as in bow and arrow, so surely that should put an end to any arguments.

I always pronounce the 'bow' part as in the bow you take at the end of a performance although David says it differently.

Although I prefer to pronounce it 'Genius'!

Thanks! For ages I was saying 'Bowie' but someone said I should say 'Bowie'. In Greece its dead funny, as they prounounce it as 'Bowie'-hilarious!

UK in general say 'Bow (as in take a bow) ie'. US say 'Bow (as in tying a bow) ie'.

Given he took the name from Jim Bowie (pronounced 'bow', as in tying a bow) the inventor of the Bowie knife, I guess us Brits in general say it wrong. Unless they pronounce it 'Bow (as in take a bow) ie Knife.'

He once said it rhymed with "doughy" - as in "this bread is quite doughy."
