Laura had no real control of the team and no real aim apart from fill the shop and upcycle stuff. So she didn't have a winning strategy. In Sugar's terms that's losing the plot.

£700 isn't that good divided by the number of team members employed and the time taken. Also it would be hard to make a loss on this task, but Laura's team did their best by "upcycling" so much.
One team has to make less profit and therefore fail, by dint of not winning. Happens quite regularly on the show.
