Totally bizarre. No offence to PJ, but to me, this just feels so wrong, and it shouldn't be happening. I could far far more easily accept Ste doing internet dating and meeting someone nice, who's already out and gay. But for this to turn into Doug's coming out story? No, just all wrong. I've had days to get my head round this, and I just can't.

Exactly. I feel like they don't entirely know where he's headed. They've already wasted a lot of his time on the show. As we've all said, actors like Emmett don't come around that often. They need to use him to his full potential.

It was Ste's coming out story. Then Brendan and Ste's story. This is what it should have always been, because it's such a complex thing that it doesn't need anyone else weighing it down. And I adore Doug/PJ too, but like you, I don't think this is right for the character in any way. It's insulting, actually. It's taking everything you think you know about a character, and almost starting again from scratch.

Exactly. By the time he leaves, I want to feel that he went on a real journey, and that he progressed as a character. I'd hate it if he remained miserable forever, going from ONS to ONS.


I wish they had made his suicide storyline bigger. They could have built up his depression straight after Bex died. It could have been really amazing, because Hollyoaks don't really deal with depression that much. I should have realised then that ES wouldn't be the greatest at continuity and aftermath, because no one would be back to laughing after throwing themselves off a bridge.


I've always enjoyed C&S's posts. I love the way she sees things. It's hard seeing people who loved the storyline no longer feel the same, because it's been ruined somewhat.
