Can't stop listening to this wonderful song recently (I just love the gospel-tinged joyfulness of the chorus!)

I was wondering how people interpret the lyrics. I've seen some people claim she's simply talking about a zealous boyfriend, but I see it more as a celebration of her faith (as in she's talking about God)

How do you interpret it?

Both for me. It can be interpreted both ways. I can't wait for her to be big globally, she really deserves it, I've been a fan for years, but never got to see her face lol...she was always on records but no one knew her by face!

thanks for posting this video. her vocals are amazing, simply stunning and she does indeed give some insight into what motivated her to write this song.

I have always interpreted this song as about an affair and she is telling a woman that her boyfriend isn't doing things such as drinking, but in her bed.
