My traditional Tuesday morning break at the news stand...Posh Spice's fame has left her emptier than ever (trying eating something and being terrifying image obsessed - that might help)...and Peter's been talking about his apparent girlfriend. Obviously I flick and don't read in my short time perusing..but the covereage basically goes like this "Emily...cries at musicals...intelligent...looks after premature babies...." And despite not a single mention of any kind of actual romantic involvement, Peter sure is going out of his way to carve her out as some sort of utterly perfect, saintly yet emotional woman - a divine antithisis of Jordan. Obviously sturdy middle class doctor St Emily, POSMOTY would only ever date a man as good and worthy as St Pete...even if it does mean she has to stand on the road whiile he stand on the pavement to be photographed together.

Of course everyone remembers Pete swearing off women, saying he can't be happy while his brother is ill...then abruptly changing in his mind in his column a short while later - around the times proceeding were launched unless I am mistaken.

...and all this PR compaign does is makes one wonder what kind of sh*t is/will be being thrown about in that coutroom

If there is any romantic involvement between them, then good, its not often you see someone with his history get a chance like this, he should really think himself extremely lucky and show that by respecting her and her profession and not by giving up dates on everything she says and does, or pretty soon she too will be regarded as no more than a desperate wannabe just like himself and that would be a shame for her, as I see her as no more than a friend whos helping him out to keep his face in the rags

I am genuinely puzzled, Cym, that you would have ever taken anything he's said seriously. Every utterance out of his mouth is either opportunistic bandwagon-jumping, trite, sanctimonious piffle to make him look good, or fan-pleasing drivel to bring on the sympathy. He has shown time and time and time again that he will say and do practically anything for a headline, with no heed whatsoever to anything he's said or done in the past that might contradict it. He tries to reinvent himself every time he opens his mouth. In short, he wouldn't know a principle if it bit him on his pierced knob.

Yes Lexi, I agree with all youve stated, but I really thought that his promotion of smoking, of which Ive never seen him use before, would have been a little too close to his heart, I wont be making that mistake again

FWIW, my guess is that he's actually too dumb to make the connection between advocating for a smoking ban on the one hand, and then being featured in a mag shoot with a cigar in his hand. I just don't think he has the mental faculties to see how one renders the other null and void. More stupidity than hypocrisy.

But I'm sure he'll explain it all in his column at some point, and how we misinterpreted it.
