really we are saying that "Thats Dope" is a good catchphrase? honestly when I read the first post, I read it was "Thats Done" which I didnt mind too much, a bit out landish, and a bit street*, but to call someone's performance "done" as in "finished" or "needs no more work", is a good thing.
* how white do I sound? |

"That's dope" is a good catchphrase. Remember a couple of months ago I said it was important The Voice had some catchphrases. This is one of them. I saw loads of people on Twitter tweeting "dope" and this is good word of mouth, cos other people were wondering why there were people were saying "dope" and the reply was that it was something to do with The Voice. So its a good way of causing word of mouth, its like sitcoms which have had catchphrases. More people will watch.
I'd go as far as accusing him of contributing to the dumbing down of television - and by consequence its viewers (as is evident by it being picked up on Twitter) - with all this unnecessary American slang. |

There all right. The BBC when it comes to sport need to re-focus. They just don't care anymore and you look at the people in the running for DG and I just conclude that BBC Sport is finished.
Quote:
I have hated the BBC's direction in sport. For ages we were saying "Oh they will focus on Major events". They have just lost one of the biggest forever I believe.
I'm not entirely sure how this is the BBC's fault. Are we really going to start advocating a position where the BBC should be out bidding (and often over paying) for any and every sports contract that any other broadcaster wants? This is the exact same over the top hysteria that followed the F1 deal and its an untenable position. Quote:
Yet they keep stuff like the BBC Asian Network!
A service that the commercial sector aren't particularly keen on providing. In contrast to that the commercial sector is more than willing to step up and fill the funding gap with sport. There isn't a single sports contract that the BBC have that another broadcaster wouldn't take over. The same cannot be said for any other section of the BBC. I do not believe it is anyone's best interest for the BBC to be in the business of artificially inflating the value of sports contracts because they get into unwarranted bidding contests with other broadcasters. Especially when those other broadcasters are FTA. Quote:

If The Voice causes 'that's dope' to enter the British vocabulary I will truely hate it.

...The Voice is seriously dull.
I'm still waiting for that second series you promised us. I seem to remember you arguing with Dannc at the time about its impressive barb finals and its huge audiences on Sky anytime . 18 months later.............But I suppose Sky blew the budget on Cleverdick's with Ann Widdecombe

He would be Brown bread in my cat and mouse if he spoke like that. He's my least favorite Inky Smudge on the Rolls Royce. If I where the beeb I wouldn't pay him so much Bread And Honey. Anyway I'm off to have an Apple Fritter and a Ship In Full Sail. Tin Bath! out loud Ken |

BBC HD late night movie is Shrek The Third just starting as BGT finishes. Not sure how it will rate but looks good, I wonder what the demo split will be as it ends 22:40

Kelly used plenty of catchphrases that had no logic behind them.
As long as 'that's dope' doesn't catch on I won't care about that either.

Sky Atlantic have moved Smash from 9pm to 10pm next Saturday, no idea why they would do that, 9pm is a much better slot for it.

US Ratings Friday April 13
Friday the 13th lived up to its reputation for Fox where The Finder and Fringe both fell to a series low and failed to crack a 1 in the demo. Just to hammer that number home neither hour of original drama on Fox was able to beat a repeat of Who Do You Think You Are on NBC. Elsewhere on Friday night Grimm, NBC's little show that could, was up three tenths on its last original to lead the 9PM hour. Earlier in the night ABC's Shark Tank and CBS' Undercover Boss ran a close fought race with Undercover Boss winning by just a tenth. ABC 8PM: Shark Tank - 1.6 [5.60] 9PM: Primetime What Would You Do? - 1.4 [4.76] 10PM: 20/20 – 1.6 [5.19] CBS 8PM: Undercover Boss – 1.7 [6.99] 9PM: ACM Presents: Lionel Richie & Friends in Concert – 1.4 [7.68] Fox 8PM: The Finder – 0.9 [3.37] 9PM: Fringe – 0.9 [2.90] NBC 8PM: Who Do You Think You Are? [r] – 0.9 [4.73] 9PM: Grimm – 1.6 [4.96] 10PM: Dateline – 1.1 [4.75] The CW 8PM: Nikita [r] – 0.3 [0.91] 9PM: Supernatural [r] – 0.4 [0.97] |

I hope The Voice beats BGT again tonight, there were more good singers in one episode than there usually are during a full series of BGT. The last few would have been talked about all week if they were on BGT.

I think The Vocie will beat Britain's Got Talent though. For some reason ITV1 went with the same stupid ad pattern as last week and it was the weakest show of the series; compared to The Voice which was apparently the strongest. |

Oh! That struck a chord.
We will find out whether it is a ridiculous Overreaction. I bet you 2 Touch Me On The Knob (Bob) that it isn't. Ken Olympics European Athletics Championships Diamond league Commonwealth games London Marathon Great North run World Cup European Championships Premier league highlights Football league highlights Carling Cup Six Nations Challenge Cup Super league highlights F1 MotoGP Wimbledon Australian open Queens World Darts Championships Alpine Skiing World Cup The Boat Race Superbowl World Snooker Championships And that's without getting into the various other events like equestrian, rowing, cycling etc. etc. and the smaller snooker, darts etc. etc. championship coverage that the BBC still cover. And doesn't touch on the BBC's radio coverage of sport either. But you're right losing The Grand National is clearly the death note of BBC Sport I can't imagine why I thought it was ridiculous hysteria. |

Going to be a bit of controversy too...
Spoiler
Quote:
Surprise surprise to see people downplaying it in here, but the National is most certainly a big loss to the BBC as one of the sporting events of the year. People (rightly or wrongly) expect to be able to see those kind of events on the BBC.
I'm sure Channel 4 will do it justice moving forwards and I don't honestly believe it's going to result in a significant loss of interest. Less will watch the coverage overall of course with the commercial breaks, but the race itself is still going to be a massive draw. Quote:
George Dixon is Channel 4's current scheduler, isn't he? Enough said.
It'd make more sense to air 8 Out of 10 Cats at 9.30pm and try to pull the Have I Got News For You audience across - there's already a 1m+ audience floating around after Have I Got News For You after all. |

Which could be a problem with The Voice (I think this has already been said before) - the memorable acts make each other forgettable because there's so many of them.

Exactly. It may be down next year but the ratings fluctuate from year to year anyway, but over the next 4 years I think C4 will get close to where the BBC were. The hype around the national isn't sitting in front of the BBC for the afternoon - it's the build up throughout the week that leads to a non-horse racing fan like myself watching it and wishing up until a couple of fences to go he had put a bet on Shakalakaboomboom.
In general I think people are massively overreacting to the loss of the National. Yes it is a loss for the BBC (although that's x million that BBC Sport can now invest somewhere else which isn't a terrible thing either) but the viewer isn't missing out. If anything it could be argued the viewer is gaining since its moving to a FTA broadcaster which already has extensive (and from all accounts very good) horse racing coverage. Its not as if this is going to be a repeat of the disaster that was Channel 4 poaching athletics from the BBC. |

If the Mirror's story is even partly true, they might as well just change Daybreak's name back to GMTV and pretend nothing happened...
