So Danny Cohen wins the FA Cup. I guess it could actually boost The Voice as there are bound to be more viewers about than usual at 7pm on a Saturday.

Yeah, good cross inheritance for The Voice, the biggest its had all series. BGT is so late tonight I think either The Voice or The FA Cup Final will have todays biggest peak audience.

I'm currently witnessing one of the worst post match interviews ever. Gabriel Clarke is usually decent but his interview with Andy Carroll is dire.

EDIT: Or was it Ned Boulting. I may be being unfair on Gabriel Clarke.

There's no way The Voice should lose tonight average-wise with a stronger than usual inheritance, weak opposition (a trophy presentation followed by the collapsing Cube), a perfect start time and Britain's Got Talent running until 10.15pm.

As for last might; good for both BBC One and ITV1 in the 9pm slot. EastEnders struggled; the share looks low as well - it's unusual for EastEnders not to be within 200,000 or so of Coronation Street if not ahead when first repeats are factored in. Coronation Street itself did well and Emmerdale's share was decent.

Ooh, looks like Liverpool should have had an equaliser. That Andy Carroll effort looked over the line to me.

Close, wasn't it? Not quite so obvious as Chelsea's 'goal' against Tottenham, but still close. Both the semi final and final incidents happened at the same end as well - maybe the goal should be taken with Chelsea to Munich?

Eastenders only 100,000 down on last Friday. Corrie had a small boost because it had its domestic violence storyline and because it was too cold for its elderly viewers to go out last night.

It's just a term like ITVista that gets used. Yes I do prefer the BBC for national news, sport, minority programming and national events, but I have no great loyalty to Auntie and my favourite channels tend to be digital like ITV3 and Yesterday.
However, I will say one thing, I always want a successful, watchable ITV as this is by far the biggest commercial broadcaster in Britain and still has the funds to spend on drama that few others in this sector can rival. Also when I first joined DS ITV1 was just coming through the recession and a terrible decade of bad programming and now, with some improvement, I can say they have some decent shows.

The Voice should do well tonight, the cross channel inheritance should work for it, whilst BGT will be dented by the late finish. Voice should win comfortably tonight, although watching it now (I refuse to watch Chelsea lift the trophy!) it still seems flat and uninspired, whilst the judges are still too nice (they just praised an atrocious performance) so it'll be interesting to see whether it gets a big boost or whether the inevitable new viewers just cancel out losses from last week.

That explains why the gap looks so drastic - Coronation Street growing rather than EastEnders dipping alarmingly.

As well as The Voice should do tonight within minutes we're reminded of how they can't separate the good from the god damn painful (that first performance wasn't great) - and that will.i.am can't handle live TV.

Surprised to see so much optimism for The Voice considering the general trend over the past couple of weeks. We'll see how the 'inheritance' works, I suppose, but I wouldn't have expected a rise from The Voice under it's own steam. And if thats the case, you'd surely till expect BGT to land on top for the evening - 10.15 finish or not.

ITV just showed a CGI shot of the goal - it looked over. ITV must've been hoping that it would be given.

The first half was quite dull for a Cup final but the second half was very exciting.

I agree there. The show is stuck because part of its tagline is that its not nasty to its contestants like X Factor can be-but there seems to be a barrier to the coaches saying anything remotely critical. The biggest criticism has been for a guitar string so far. And all the contestants seem to think they have to sceech through their songs. Many things to look at imo.

The Voice will surely be 'default' viewing for most people who don't want to watch the after match coverage. The other options on terrestrial are snooker, Mission Impossible and NCIS - I guess the snooker could see a sports boost but the latter two programmes rely on someone following the plot from the off so I doubt they'll see much of an increase.

Regarding the goal - it wasn't clear cut unlike previous cases, to me it seemed to be on the line rather than over.

As for tonight, I think BGT's audience will go south during transmission. I'll be surprised to see it above 10m and ahead of The Voice.

Why do some posters think BGT is going to struggle tonight. It's not clashing with the Voice and it's an important episode.

That last performance was horrendous and they're still trying to find ways to praise her!

Not surprising that all of Jessie J's contestants are screaming though - taking a leaf out of their coach's book!

Still find it remarkable that Will.i.am can't even say a full sentence on the livesshows while he was great in the previous rounds. He is either nervous or the edeting worked great for him before the live shows. The judges need be more critical, on the dutch version they where and Seal on the australian version is actually very critical but fair.

Britains got talent has failed to take advantage of the fact its not been clashing against The Voice the last 2 weeks. In fact, it rated better for some episodes which clashed against Voice. A lot of children and old people who like the dancing dogs will be in bed before 10pm.

There's such a thing as constructive criticism. Something to bear in mind for series 2.

X Factor may run even later than planned. 7.43 and ITV pundits still yakking away.
