I think because The Tonys is Broadway centric, it's not as appealing to casual viewers. Shame really as it's very good, the NPH opener from last year was hilarious.

Masterchef started last year before Loser had finished.
Rumours were that MC would start last night or this Monday.

The Biggest Loser was given a late extension in its order[they're bringing back failed contestants this week] and so it looks to me as if they've wisely decided to avoid the mega clash.
This years run of Loser started back on January 23 and the finale is still not set

The Biggest Loser is the only other show apart from New Girl and Modern Family that Ten have that can push a million viewers (or close enough to), so i'm not surpirsed they have extended it, with profit for the network allegedly down 2/3rds since last year. To be fair to Ten they did successfully see off Excess Baggage, which if that had been a hit (which thankfully it wasn't) would no doubt have been the death knell for loser. Instead it looks set to be around for a few years to come.

The only overlap between MC and BL last year was on the final two shows (sunday and monday) of Biggest Loser and the first two episodes of Masterchef. It would be incredibly hard for Ten to run both stripped at the same time. No doubt Masterchef will start again on the final night of loser in order to give TEN a strong schedule, but to run them at the same time? Biggest Loser would have to be 30 minutes long, as I couldn't see Masterchef starting any later than 7.30pm

I dont listen to odd numbered BBC Radio stations, I listen to Radio 2, Radio 4 & Radio 6.

As for if ive heard it in Boots or EastEnders, well I dont normally go to Boots, and hearing a song on EE is not the same as hearing it on a radio.

Is any country going to reject The Voice?

The Voice is a massive hit in pretty much every country which has shown it. Thats a massive launch in Australia, completely demolishing Dancing with the Stars on the other side. Australias Got Talent should be worried tomorrow.

Don't tell me there's another country where The Voice is going to beat Got Talent?

I don't think there's anything that can be done by the opposition to The Voice to regain momentum. They'll just have to ride it out and try and get the best figures possible.

Brilliant start, it's going to be interesting to see how it and The Block fares against Australia's Got Talent.

Bravo to The Voice Australia for their huge premiere. No doubt they will hold well for today and tomorrow, not only for the hype but also with the help of The Block as their lead-in. I was predicting around 1.8-2m for the premiere, so it did a bit better than expected. The Logies were ridiculous as Throng AU noted that it ran longer than some of the big US award shows such as the Oscars and the Grammys. It finished at 12:20am last night (almost 4 hours!!!!). Although, Herald Sun leaked the winner hours before the big reveal. The funny part is that even when the site deleted the page, the address bar pretty much continued spoiling it anyways. But 4 hours, seriously?!?!?!?!? Will Nine finally notch a ratings week win over Seven?

DWTS really took a hit. It was obvious that they would lose to The Voice, but not to the extent that it is reaching the very underperforming territory. Then again, they only have themselves to blame, largely due to having mostly "even lower than d-list" nobodies line-up.

Ten did OK numbers against Nine's juggernaut night. Where is New Girl?

Ten are really promoting the hell out of TBL, but interestingly enough for next week. It's like they are saying, this week is not that great but come back for the week after as the contestants Kudos for Ten though for being fully committed to the show, despite the slump. Commitment paid off at times, as they did go over a million mark a few weeks ago, even only for that one day. When Masterchef comes back, what time will Ten slot the show? When will Ten finally prove that they are more than just "the Masterchef network"?

It's an exceptional start. Relative to what the channel normally gets in that slot it must be one of the biggest launches we've seen worldwide so far.

A shock to the system for Seven, certainly. Dancing with the Stars was left embarrassed, beaten 2:1, and the demos will contain even worse news.

Next couple of nights will be very revealing and will decide who wins the week. I'm rooting for Nine, the underdog, as ever. But it won't be easy as I expect AGT will hold up a lot better than DWTS.

Seven's been resting on their laurels, Nine have had success with The Block and they've got a new drama coming up, looks like The Voice will be big there.

Nine is also back to fast-tracking The Big Bang Theory and starting timely for their Leonard Nimoy episode. The Celebrity Appprentice should do well, and not only because of David Hasselhoff. Nine has really pushed themselves this year with constant marketing and promotions. Such a shame that their scripted shows Beaconsfield and Tricky Business (I saw the trailer and it looks stupidly horrendous) are not promoted as much though. As for Ten, it looks like they are pushing Offspring to do well. After all, Asher Keddie won her Most Popular Actress award for second year running. Plus, her two co-stars were also nominated and the show itself.

Yeah, but it did finish after midnight. The last hour or two will have dragged down its average quite a bit, not that Nine will care because they were in pole position all evening!

Dancc, here's a treat. DWTS didn't bother being in the top 5 for any of the three key adult demos. More amusingly, in 16-39 demo, New Girl and Modern Family on Ten did better than DWTS!!!!

For all the headlines ITV1 are probably in the best position in terms of surviving The Voice in terms of commercial competitors - at least The Voice is on the BBC and is therefore not taking advertising money away from ITV. Of course, the downside is The Voice is getting more exposure being on BBC One and ITV are taking a pounding in the PR stakes but as Britain's Got Talent is holding up better than last year financially it isn't the disaster it could've been. The big test now will be the autumn; if people watch both The Voice and The X Factor it'll be ok but if the majority of the audience elects to watch only one singing show it could be curtains for the latter.

I'm sure Seven will stick with both Dancing With The Stars and Australia's Got Talent though they're in a slightly more problematic position than ITV1 as it's a commercial competitor taking money directly off them. If things really get bad I'm sure they'll move their reality shows to safer slots and maybe try and different approach to tackling The Voice - maybe by trying My Kitchen Rules and Packed to The Rafters against The Voice instead as they're a different genre? Or will they decide that it'd be better to burn off the reality opposition against it? And will Got Talent hold up in Australia as well as it has here? It's a possibility, though The Voice Australia got a relative free reign for opening night which The Voice UK did not get.

The United States' version also presents another question - will The Voice hold up as well away from the iconic audition stage? After launching off the Superbowl the auditions held a very strong audience down but the battle rounds and live shows have seen a drop off to a more average level. American Idol has managed to tackle the pretender to the throne after being on the back foot for much of the season; possibility the similarities of the live shows to the other talent competitions resulted in their being less interest in the show. And if this is the case will the pattern be repeated here and in Australia?

The Voice has started very well. For BBC One, NBC and Nine it's a much needed light entertainment hit which is capable of grabbing high ratings. But sustainability will be fascinating over the next few weeks; NBC has seen a reduction in ratings over the week. With less competition will the UK version follow suit? And will Got Talent piut the breaks on Down Under?

It's certainly made for a very fascinating time ratings wise; not just in the UK but in the US and Australia as well.

Amazing start for the Voice, 2.17m for any show is phenomenal, and apart from the final of My Kitchen Rules I don't think anything else has achieved that this year, so incredible. Last night though it was obvious Nine would win, tonight is going to be a lot more interesting. I think Nine may be able to do it, only because they have half an hour start on the Block over Australia's Got Talent, and Home and Away is likely to be sub 1million as it hasn't been rating too well for a while now., so wont provide much of a lead in. Then The Voice vs Revenge will be interesting, Revenge is regularly above 1.5m, will that be enough to dent the voice, or will Revenge lose viewers? Personally I think the Voice will be down to 1.5m tonight and Revenge 1.3m, it all depends on how many people turned into the Voice yesterday because it proceeded the Logies.

And though Dancing with the stars did poor, 1.07m is something that both Nine and Ten would usually kill for, and with the Logies being replaced by Beaconsfield next week, it will no doubt be able to claw some viewers back. Then again when your 'star' signing that is promoted in all the adverts is the runner up on last years X Factor, you know you don't have a great cast. I think my favourite entry has to be 'international DJ' Vogue Williams, or as she's more commonly known Brian McFadden's current fiancee. At least Kerry Katona was famous for something else initially

Ouch indeed. This is turning into a more and more painful morning for Seven by the minute. I'm guessing Loser completed the set?!

Its far too early to say that things will go bad for Seven. I still think Australia's Got Talents biggest problem is the fact that Nine have The Voice paired up with the Block, and 1.07 for Dancing with the Stars really isn't that bad, its just bad for Seven. Just like last years X Factor ratings were bad for ITV1, just relatively. If the Voice does really take off then maybe Seven could move AGT to Wednesday and Thursday nights, and maybe that is why Once Upon a Time has not been scheduled in yet, but it remains to be seen what Nine's plans with the Voice are, they may be planning on Sunday/monday shows once the live episodes start, though I think Tricky Business is more likely to end up on Sunday, and Voice being Monday and Tuesday. It will certainly be interesting as to what happens, but I really don't think Seven will be panicing just yet, the logies are a big night for NINE and it was clever of them to start the Voice last night, away from the Logies anything could happen

Now that you mention it, I kinda wish it did. The Top 3 is pretty much The Voice, The Logies and Logies Red Carpet. Since New Girl and Modern Family was 4th and 5th for the night in 16-39 demo, I am guessing TBL might be 6th at this rate. DWTS might not even be 10th .

I don't think things will go bad for Seven - outside The Block, Masterchef and now The Voice it tends to hold most of the cards in terms of Australian television. It may be interesting to see how they react to this. ITV1 tried to strangle it at birth (though hitting it with a wet tea towel may be a more accurate description. ). The American networks had to give up on hurting the second season when it was given the Superbowl lead in. Will Seven accept the hit or will they try and move things around to either minimalise the pain or trying and hurt The Voice? I'd assume the former but that'll depend on the two reality shows at least holding up.

The problem is that The Voice is a guaranteed pre-packaged hit. There's nothing else out there like it just now for another channel to buy in. And Strictly isn't really a dance show - it's a celebrity show.

I'd love ITV to be willing and able to do that - to actually take on big BBC hitters at every opportunity and embrace the BBC's competitive commercial attitude. But right now (or in the near future) I don't see ITV really having the resources to do that in the way that Sky have in sport. So it's going to be All Star Family Fortunes and You've Been Framed opposite Strictly/The Voice for years to come!

Ultimate Dance Battle seems like quite a good format. But it's no real comparison to The Voice - it seems to have done well for digital channels in the Netherlands and Belgium rather than being a global success like The Voice.

On ITV1 it needs to be really broad. You could argue two ways on this - SYTYCD flopped which suggests a lack of interest in that kind of thing. On the other hand, SYTYCD launched well so maybe it was just the show itself which sucked?

Also, I'm not sure that "5 outstanding choreographers" can carry a show. I don't think he knew it at the time but when Cowell put Cheryl Cole on X Factor, he changed the way these shows work and they all seem to need "celebrities" at the forefront. There might be a way of working popstars into the UDB format and if they can get that then it might be worth a shot. But on first look, it seems like it might be a good buy for Sky1 if they wanted to give Ashley Banjo another project perhaps in the summer months.
